Important quection?????? MY FURBABY IS TURNING ONE YEAR OLD IN DECEMBER 23,I WAS WONDERING WHEN IT WILL BE A GOOD TIME TO CHANGE HIS FOOD FROM PUPPY FOOD TO ADULT FOOD.MY FURBABY IS BECOMING A YOUNG FURBABY:) I LOVE HIM SO MUCH:aimeeyork |
We do love them so much, don't we :p...I switched Apple at 9 months, but to an all stages life food...That way I had all my bases covered...Early Happy Birthday to your little darling.... |
We just switched to Acana and Innova. Both dogs (2 1/2 years and 8 months) are doing well:) |
Sydney's vet said at 6 months, to switch from puppy food to adult food because of the fat content in puppy food. She said that even if the puppy food says good for up to a year to still make the gradual switch. Syd will be 6-months-young on Sunday. I've already switched her from Diamonds puppy food to Evo dry. Since she's losing baby teeth, I add a bit of warm water to the kibble so it's a bit softer for her to chew. She seems to like it. |
Our vet says to wait until one year, but Tootsie is 8 months old now and I've noticed since switching to Orijen puppy that she feels much heavier when picking her up??? |
It really depends on the type of food you are feeding. Many people feed an all stages of life dog food so it is not necessary to switch. Sometimes I keep all my adults on puppy food and at times I will mix puppy food and adult food together. I have never used an adult or puppy food that is more than 28% protein and all my dogs do very well. |
