Yorkie prices Ive been reading that some bad breeders use different words to up the prices on puppies.. with that being said im interested in whats a normal price range for a yorkie puppy from reputable breeders? like how much is too much for a yorkie puppy? :confused: |
Good question! Are you looking for a puppy? There are several great breeders on YT If you want a champion sired pup you will pay a bit more maybe $1500+ You may be able to get a puppy with a good pedigree for around $1000 Although I may be wrong. I think it is important to find a breeder who you feel comfortable with, with healthy, bred to standard Yorkies. If you just choose on price you may get a really cute puppy that does not turn out to be what you thought or wanted. I'm not an expert, this is just my experience. I'm sure you will get loads of good advice on here ;) |
Its not a big deal to me if the puppy is champion sired but ive seen that the ones that i tend to think are really pretty have this little face that some how ends up being a champion sired pup that are running close to 4k and its alot of money so it got me thinking maybe when people are actually looking to show a dog and they go out looking to buy one to show they cost more :2omg: but idk... The places ive been looking are from reputable breeders that sound and i feel in my heart are trust worthy they dont in any way use the certain ploy words ive been told to look out for they are educated in the line of work, they know there dogs but i didnt think it would be so expensive but i maybe wrong like i said idk so looking for a little light |
Most breeders value their lines. They work very hard to breed to the standard of the Yorkshire Terrier. It is not cheap to produce quality, healthy puppies. Most reputable breeders make no money selling puppies. There is alot of hard work and expense that goes into each litter. Loving, pet homes is what we all strive for, for each puppy. As stated in a previous post, champion lines and pedigrees play a roll in the price for each puppy. More important then the cost, is the breeder. You must trust the breeder you choose. Educating yourself as much as possible, will ensure you know what to look for and what to ask. Most responsible breeders will answer any questions you may have. I have always been a firm believer that price is the last thing you should be looking at. Education should always be put first! |
Assuming a reputable breeder, etc., & "all" else equal, the price will be dependent on where the breeder is located. This is in part due to the variation in vet fees. I know vet fees are very high in my part of New Jersey. |
I know that even if I sell my little girls for $1200 each, we'll still not be making any money. We don't want to charge that much for them, but we don't want to lose money due to how expensive Maya's emergency c-section was, stud fee, prenatal care, whelping box and supplies, puppy pen, toys, etc., puppy vet bills, etc.. So, yes, vet bills play a role in the price as well as the breeder. But these babies of mine are spoiled rotten already and getting the BEST care, I think my pups are worth it. And trust me, I won't be making a penny off of them. It just depends on the situation sometimes, too. I hope you find a pup! My husband bought Derby for $850 here in Canada. Then again, my husband went out looking for a "big" Yorkie- and low and behold our guy is already 10 pounds! He was 3 pounds when we bought him. The guy just grew overnight, it seems. |
The part of the country that you live in has everything to do with prices I have dogs with ch. lines from 3 show people that post right here on YT no names mentioned and there is no way that i can ever sell a puppy for the prices i paid for mine because of location. but i knew that before buying. my babies are my joy and i give them the best of everything |
I know that alot is put into raising a healthy pup and mom thats why i came here to ask if this was normal for the high price tags because it isnt the thing i focused on when searching but the puppy coming from someone that is breeding correctly and is able to educated me and i feel comfortable with ect.. But that last thing it balls down to is hard earned money but hey money is to spend lol is what i tell myself when im doing something my fiance wouldnt approve :)... ok well i found my girl how exciting i have to find a flight!! |
A thousand is the highest I would pay. I got a male for $600 |
I would say between 800-1200 is "normal" but it depends on where you live. |

I think the normal price range is around 800-1500 or so. Location plays a part, pedigree, if the breeder is a show breeder or not etc. |

I bought a yorkie with CH parents and didn't spend near 4000. I know that you can buy a nice yorkie with nice lines behind it for alot less than that. I would mostly stay away from people that are using "special" terms like teacup, rare, etc.... to sell their dogs for more. I also like to think that it is worth it to pay a little more and get what you want from a good reputable breeder, you are not just buying a dog, but begining a realtionship that can last the durration of the dogs life, a good breeder will give you support, and answer your questions long after the sale is final. You also are paying for the breeder's hard work, and knowledge, good ethics are worth their weight in gold IMO. A normal price for a pet seems to range between 800-2000 roughly(kind of a big range but I know people that have paid more and less than that;)). |
If you could I'd work with our breeders. They're great. You can also look in the rescue section. You might be able to get a slight break if the breeder feels the yorkie won't meet the standards. Just contact some of them. You may be put on a waiting list, but that's what happens when you have a good breeder. |
