Please give this shelter a call. I have been checking through any FL shelter. Icalled regarding this Yorkie that they got 12/01/09 they say his name is Max. He is NOT in their adoption section so I wondered. THey say he is about 4 yrs old , neutered male.

I asked if they could scan him and if he had a collar with that name Max. The lady asked me what I needed and I told her I lost my Yorkie. She said I had to come in to see if it was him. I explained that I am about 4 hrs away from them. Then she just tells me " This cant be your dog....how would he end up here?"

I just told her that a neighbor of mine had lost her yorkie last year and she got a call from a shelter 3 hrs away! SO I told her anything is possible and I need to check this out.

She said sure let me get his records. She comes back after a couple of minutes and says "This cant be your dog, it was surrendered by its owner"

I didnt want to keep on and on but why would this dog be under Lost & Found?

How frustrating! I wish they'd be a little more helpful to you. I understand this shelter is 4 hrs away, but anything's possible! I'm hoping someone can help you out.

They don't have a picture?

Is your dog chipped? maybe you could ask them to scan him

Maybe you could ask to talk to the head of the shelter and see if they will be more cooperative. That's sad they won't make an effort to help you. I am praying for a miracle!!

If it was surrendered by an owner, then why are they saying the staff thinks it's 4 years old"!?

It would be great if you could actually speak to someone in authority at the shelter.

I hope someone nearby can help somehow!

The way it is posted is a general info used by Humane Societies. The Inland Empire Human society uses the same thing. They can't ever claim to know a dog's exact age even if the owner says it is that age.

I just looked on their website. He is listed under "adoptable pets" now. They close at 4:30pm on Friday so I just missed them. I sent an email anyway, saying that I was interested in the yorkie and could they possible send a pic as I don't live closeby. We'll see...
