Has your yorkie ever actually caught a squirrel?? 1 Attachment(s) Maxwell's daily favorite hobby is standing for hours by the living room window watching for squirrels at the bird feeder. Every once and a while we let him out and he does a loop around the yard at full speed and the squirrels seem to enjoy taunting him. Today, he came within 18 inches of the squirrel's tail and it occurred to me, if he ever caught up with the squirrel, we could have a medical disaster on our hands. Has anyone's little one ever actually caught up with one of the little critters? (see attached) |
Chuckling over your picture....and no, mine haven't. Ramsey however would love to...she thinks. |
Not squirrels, no. But Alex & Becca used to catch cats and rabbits whenever they came into our yard. Oh and Becca was always bringing me the birds she'd caught - she would lay them at me feet as a gift. :p |
Mine haven't caught one YET!! I swear they come awfully close though! I also worry what would happen if they succeded!!! |
Buddy is always on a leash but that dosen't seem to stop him at times when he spots one and almost takes my arm off trying to get to it. It would be horrible I think if he ever did. I would be sick to my stomach! I had a terrier mix, who when I let him out in the am when I was in a house, would stand on the back porch just waiting to see one then he would leep off of four steps and run like the wind to catch it, he never did but he tried like heck for 12yrs.:p |
Kekee! That's a really cute & funny pic. Mine go nuts over squirrels & birds. There's a squirrel that resides in these bamboo trees in our neighbor's yard which is right by our backyard. Well, everyday he crosses our wall & goes to our other neighbor's yard to pick some fruit & he darts back into the bamboo trees. They just go nuts, all bizerk, totally wild animals! Lol our sliding door is riddled w/their tongue marks! |
Lol.........no. |
Not Reesie, but her Border Collie buddy Cindy has! Score-- Cindy 8; squirrels 1 She got pretty good in her old yard, the squirrels would run up a tree and she would leap at the tree kind of at a tangent, reach out and knock them out of the tree. Across the street a neighbor had a big Dogwood tree that was at a 45 degree angle. Cindy used to run right up that trunk after a squirrel and wind up 20 feet high up the tree. She'd sit up there until she felt like coming down. Reesie sits there and screams out the window at them when she sees them. Too many hawks out there to let her go and see what happens, but most of the squirrels around here are bigger than Reesie! |
No but they try hard. My cat has gotten really close to catching one though |
Armani is definitely faster than the squirrels, the only reason why she has not actually caught one is because I intervened. |
omg, lexi goes nuts when i mention squirrels.. i dont have any where i live, but they are all over my b/f's house.. when i go there, lexi zooms out of the house and there they are along the fence running to get to the trees.. she hops like a bunny barking trying to get them.. i think once she did get one cause it fell down from the tree, i guess it didnt have a good grip. This is the time lexi ran across the street and i was screaming and yelling at her and she was running around the car in driveway and me running after her like a jerk,, i was soo scared. |
1 Attachment(s) Well, Sophie has actually climbed a tree (part way) to wait for them (as pictured) but hasn't actually caught one yet. Our yorkie Baby (r.i.p.) caught the tail of a rabbit once. I know because I found the fur:rolleyes: |
Caught! My 5lb, faster than a speeding bullet, girl Zelda caught herself one. It was going up the tree she jumped about 2 feet up caught it by the tail, pulling it down, it flipped and turned and escaped, I ran outside in my pj's screaming like banshee, woke the neighbors who came out with coffee cup in hand to check out the drama. I was afraid she got scratched or bit so we went to the vet and everything was fine but I swear they know just how to stay out of reach. They sit on top of the privacy fence and chatter at the dogs, just to torment them and incite non-stop barking, I think. |
No. An outside dog would be one thing (but still not healthy). Ellie sleeps with me, cuddles, and give kisses. There is no way I'd let her catch something. IMO, it's gross. :) |

It sprawls itself on the ledge of the wall (sunbathing?) & mine go nuts! We have to close the blinds take them to another room while I go back & shoo it away. kekeeke! |
