My Yorkie is acting very different the past couple of months. Help! We have two Yorkies. Our male, Kilo is 2 yrs old and our female, Yaby is 14 months old. Our male has been acting so weird for the past couple of months. We house trained him when he was very young and he would never go pee on the carpet, just on his pads. Lately he has been peeing on the floor, right by the pad or going somewhere in the house and peeing where he can't be seen. They are also both crate trained but sometimes he pees or poops in his crate, and sometimes when it is time to go in the crate, he refuses. We make sure to reward them for good behavior, like when they go in the crate, we give them a small treat. But he just runs away now and refuses to go in the crate, treat or not. Then when we get him in the crate, he won't stop barking. Our female is fine, no problems. He just seems like he became stubborn overnight. The only thing that changed is that we had our female spayed a few months ago and that may be about the same time he has been acting different. Do you have any advice or suggestions for us? Thank you in advance!:) |
Sorry, no idea's. Is he neutered? Do they still interact normally together since her spaying? My Boo's attitude towards Yogi (both male) changed for the better after Yogi was neutered. I'll bump this up for you, maybe someone else will have some idea's. |
Sounds like he is marking. Has he been neutered? Male dogs don't reach full sexual maturity until about two years old so I am guessing that is the problem. Whenever there is a change in potty behavior, though, a medical reason should be suspected. He needs to be checked for a urinary tract infection. |
Yorkie issue Yes he has been neutered for about a year now. It' just weird that he would start acting like this out of nowhere. I guess it is possible that since has peed or pooped in his crate that he thinks its not clean so he doesn't want to go in. We have tried moving it to a different position, switching our females crate and his but he still doesn't like it. Maybe he is just testing us haha. |
