Help Needed....Teething Hi, my precious Chloe is now 3 mos. old. She turns into a "puppy on crack" for about 1 1/2 hours each night chewing & trying to bite me, the furniture, etc. I keep nylabones with me at all times to divert her attention from me to the bone. The next thing you know she is conked out and my little angel reappears. My question, how long does this stage last and does anyone have any advice on her trying to bite us and what we can do. This is my first puppy in 16 years. I have a 7 year old rescue yorkie that I didn't have to deal with these issues. Thanks in advance for all help/advice. |
All I can say is it does get better. Sophie is almost a year old now and only once in a great while goes after one particular chair leg. I gave her nylabones too and when she goes after the chair I still replace the chair with a bone. Be careful to replace the bone if it looks too worn so Chloe won't swallow any of it that might break off. I've heard of that happening although Sophie is not a hard chewer and I have never experienced it. As far as the hand bitting...Sophie stopped doing that after a couple of months. We just moved our hands away, told her no, and replaced them with a appropriate chew toy. She still will play at mouthing our hands a little but never bites down, just play growls and mouths a little.;) |
I would purchase bully sticks or flossies ,all my guys are obsessed with their flossies! |
Yeah, I would give her a variety of chew toys. Some feel better than others at different times. Roxy used to jump on any crushed ice that fell from the freezer door like it was the best stuff in the world when she was teething. Good luck, this is a tough stage to help them through. |
