Excited or Scared????? Ok...I've asked my Yorkie Nikki several times but she won't answer me (imagine). Now I am coming to you...how do you know when a yorkie is scared or excited? I don't want to stress her by scaring her everytime we go for a car ride but when it's time to get the kids from school she knows it! Gets up and starts spinning in circles and jumping up and down and runs to the door. She seems to like car rides but from the moment she is in she starts shaking and panting.... Any ideas? |
Rio is the same way, and has always panted and shook from the moment we brought her home. She is now 9 months old and hasn't gotten used to car rides like so many people said she would. I'm interested in hearing everyone's responses too! |
It sounds like she is excited and wants to go even if the motion from the car makes her a little nervous |
I think Isabel shakes and shivers because she thinks she is going to the Vet! After a little while, she calms down. She knows the vet is only a 2 minute ride away! |
Lillie shakes a lot too. Yesterday, she took a 4 hour car ride to Houston to visit family...she did fine in the car but once we took her out and let her roam around and smlll everyone my father in law said "Man oh man shes vibratin'!" haha I really just think its because they are excited mostly. I went to a Yorkie (dog whisperer) session and he said that you can tell if they are scared by their 'shakes' duration. Yorkies that are scared usually shake and shiver, then it will be intermittent--this means they are calming down from something that frightened them. If they just are just shaking in general, its either because they are excited about what's going on or cold. =) Lillie used to get really scared when we would go for car rides, now I keep a bed in the car and she just curls up and goes to sleep. =) |
If she was scared, I don't think it's likely she run to the door. Seems she would run from the door instead. Roxy has recently kinda shivered a little, but it's gotten colder so I figured that was it even though she's got a sweater on. She doesn't continue to shake though. |
