Everyone close to Gray Summit MO. There is a Dog Show Coming!!!
 
At Purina Farms the IABCA International All Breed Canine Association is holding a dog show in Gray Summit, MO. I will be there showing some of my Yorkies. I know Homer(Biewer Yorkie) will be in the ring for sure. I will probably have to wait to see if the girls will be able to attend, two of them Polyana(traditional yorkie) and Harmony could be in heat around this time so my have to enter them at the last minute.... :( But if you live in the area maybe we can have a meet up??? :D And or you can enter the show. This show is much different than a AKC show, the dogs are judged against their standard, not the handlers, so you don't have to be a professional. Everything is so laid back, the judges are very helpful as well as the people(handlers) It was a blast in June and I am so excited !!!! Here is the link to their site for this show:

I live ten min. from Gray Summit, MO. I know I cannot enter Sketter or Annie but I'd also like to meet you and other YT members.
I have never been to a dog show of any kind so I think I would really love it. I'm going to see if R4sons (Heather) can come to she doesnt live that far away.
Maybe more will come and we can all meet.

I am looking forward to seeing these great dogs. Of course I think mine is the best (ha ha) but I have no idea what all the guidelines are since i have never concidered doing the show dog thing.

I live in NYC, so is impossible for me to attend. I hope others that live close by can attend. Snow yorkies, good luck and please take lots of pictures. ;) Keep us posted.

I am for sure coming.... :p I am doing the on line entry for Homer next week the so I won't have to pay late entry fees. This will be great to finally meet some YTalkers.... Bring a lawn chair.... :p I very informal setting. Formal judging though...

I think it said you couldnt bring other dogs unless there in the show, so Im going to have to figure out how im going to do this. Im so excited cause i've never done anything like this before.

Are there usually alot of people there just to watch?

There are some spectators (sp?) Usually hanging around the breeds they are interested in. But they all seem to know the right times to approach you as not to distrub you while you are getting to go in the ring. The judges will coach all new comers and tell you exactly what to do. As long as your dog will walk to your left and doesn't freak out on a table, mind the judges touching them or you showing there teeth (males they will check them there too...lol) To stack take the dogs front feet bring them to the edge of the table make sure their chest is aligned try to train the dog to look forward-head slightly raised, bring their hind legs back slightly. You will need a lead (about $5.00) you can ball up into your hand when stacking, bring that lead just behind your dogs ears firmly, but not chocking this will help the dog not to be as distracted to their surroundings and usually help to keep them stacked. If they are not perfect it is okay they are being judged against their standard not you as a handler. Everyone is very helpful and friendly, like I said I had a blast.

They will have one in Lexington, KY in the spring of 2006. It isn't on the schedule yet, But it should be listed in the next month or two. I was planning to be at that one two... It isn't any further than MO. for us down here in the deep south...lol. So depending on where you live in Ohio that one might be one you could come to. Maybe we could have a yorkie meet up then too....

Just outside of St.Louis, by Six Flags... :p I would love to meet you as well as everyone else that would like to come meet up and those that would like to participate in the show. I am getting excited not just about the show, but to meet some members. How Wonderful.....

Oh wow, I am so excited! That isn't too far away! I am going to plan on it. I guess I just walk up to everyone with a yorkie and ask them if they are on YT. hehe Or may be I will just hold a big sign above my head that says LILYS MOM and all the YT'ers will know what that means. :p

You are so funny.... I will just hold a big sign above my head that says LILYS MOM.... :lol tears Depending on how many want to come maybe we can all meet and have breakfast together. We will be staying in a hotel, so the babies could stay there, so no one will be in a hot car if they bring their babies. And or where they hold the show it is outdoors, we can get under one of the shade trees, set up our lawn chairs and visit. I will be back and forth with showing, but there are times that I will have to wait for upcoming shows. I hope to have three to four of mine entered just depends on the females and their heat cycles. I would love to enter Blossom, Not sure yet, she blew her coat when she had Calfilena. We'll see I just might enter her anyways... it is a month from now... :p But if you go to my website and look at my page under Show Ring I am pictured there, so you will know what I look like (beached whale...lol) and maybe the others that are coming can post a picture of themselves and that will give us all something to go by....

Baili's mom Thank you I love to show my babies off.... :p Here is a show you could attend.. not sure if there will be any Biewers there although I know there are folks in Florida that has them so you might get lucky...http://www.iabca.com/orlandopremiumoct.htm and it is in your hometown !!!! :D In just a couple of weeks Oct. 29th and 30th. The link should give you all the information on times place, ect... I wish I could be there with everyone....
