:) Looks like a girl to me too. I have laughed so hard, my family came running to see what I was reading!! :D Thanks for the comic relief! But seriously, you should get the little guy/gal to a vet ASAP to confirm the sex and for a checkup. The most important thing is to have a healthy puppy! And Simplythi, please know that we are not laughing at you. Thank heavens we have a forum where a person can ask any question. I appreciate your honesty. It's certainly endearing! Good luck! :) |
This is pretty crazy! :D But now, after seeing the pics that Mograceliz posted I'am kinda leaning towards the other way now thinking that simplythi's little baby is a girl...Oh my goodness!!!!!!! Yes, definatley go to the vet and have this confirmed and let us know. This is nuts! |
I saw this post earlier and read it before anyone posted and thought OMG what a nut. No effense, I as not making fun of you. Have see your breeders site, where in Texas are you from? Isn't the breeder around Houston. Either way you got a yorkie to love. Welcome to Yorkie Talk and let us know what you got..........Cindy I enlarged the pic and it is a girl for sure. What does the puppies papers say on the sex, maybe your picked up the wrong one. When I got Rudy there was 3 males and a female and after you look at them it's hard to remember which is which. When I went back to get Rudy, the breeder when I was there before cut a little hair on one paw so I would get the one I had picked. Rudy and his brothers looked so much a like |
I agree with everybody, This is very funny!! But I think we're looking at a girl!! If your baby was a boy his genitalia would be up on his belly(with a shaft and then the penis) and if its a girl it would be between the back legs... So where is it?? I'm thinking girl, Let us know.. What do the papers say?? |
Looks like a GIRL to me.......... |
I'm starting to wonder why the parental controls on my spam and anti-virus software haven't banned me from this site!! ;) :D LOL!!! |
That's a girl, looks just like my girl yorkie. |
puppy YOU are the pet owner and not expected to know LOL..many people have never seen what makes a Yorkie a male or female..it is the breeder who made the mistake. How are you going to handle this? Will the breeder want 50% more or ask for Toby back? Did she mark the papers male? If you want to keep your puppy, all you have to do is make a correction yourself on the papers. Send AKC a note saying there was an error in marking the papers..they will back you up. I have an uneasy feeling the breeder is going to want more money or the puppy...not fair it was her error..I would eat the loss and wish you well...best wishes |
I couldnt tell you if... my life depended on it. I am the one that made an appointment with the vet to get my cat spade. I went to the car to get all her shot records for the vet and when I came back in the office Michelle asked me " Viki are you sure you want to get your cat spade"? I said "duh, Michelle" I am here the cat is here I made the appointment you do the Math. She said, "but, Viki feel and I felt these two little round teeny tiny things and I said, " so she has hemorroids you can take those off when you spade her right?" Of course the doctor was in the back room laughing his fanny off, and Danielle is now Daniel. I called my Dad and told him not to worry I found the reason why I wasn't married again, told him its cause I can't tell the difference. So let me put it this way I am going on faith that Sydnee is a girl. Because all I see in that photo is a bare butt, no girl or boy parts. Viki Also my boys squat like girls in the litter box and always have so that squatting thing is not a fail safe on my end. Still would be clueless. |
pup I knew a Maltese breeder in MD who called me for advice. Her recently purchased "stud" had been bred to 3 females and no pups resulted. I went to visit her and looked at the male..he was a lovely boy and when I turned him over he was missing two very necessary parts...testicules. We had a good laugh..although it was not so funny, she spent a good amount of money on a neutered stud. Then a stud client called so disappointed her female had 5 males pups, she wanted a girl so much. At least they were all healthy and cute as bugs...then I saw them at 6 weeks and guess what..she had 5 girls...it was a bit hard to explain to the people who wanted them that their boy was now a girl. LOL |
there is no way that i could return toby, me and my girlfriend have grown really attached to our yorkie and we wouldnt give her up for the world. The only thing I'm worried about is the breeder, I wonder what she will make of this situation. It was not our fault she gave us the wrong dog to begin with. |
UH......what breeder????? If you love this pup and don't care of he is a she.then.....let the chips fall where they may. Keep her and fix the paperwork.....the breeder (with her poor eyesight) has likely given some male pup to a family wanting a female..he will squat for months and by the time they figure it out they will love him, too!!!!!!! |
i agree that it is the breeders fault....... but i hope those people that payed for a female get their money back when they reaslize that what they have is a male (well half of it back at least since you said the female was 50% more) |
I don't want to appear to have NO LIFE.............but I am waiting to hear if Toby is a Boy or a Girl!!!!!!!! I know everyone else probably had more important things to do today and I really did get several hours in working and babysitting the grand-kids...... But I have been wondering about Toby........... .......did he/she made it to the vet????? Anybody hear anything????????? (I'm betting on "female") |
How crazy is all this!! Hahaha ahah!! I haven't laughed so hard in quite awhile. In my opnion, Toby looks like a she!! I have a baby boy, and even at 6 weeks,we were able to tell it was a boy. But then again, I'm no expert!!! No matter what the outcome, you have a beautiful baby!!! Can't wait to hear the outcome afteer the vet's visit!!! :) :) :) |
I think it's a girl too - looks just like Tia's area :) I'm anxious to see how this turns out! |
the famous question got answered by my vet today, toby is a girl ladies and gents! hahaha  :p |
Puppy That is so funny. Once again like everyone said we are not laughing at you. I also called my boyfriend in her because I was laughing so hard. I knew he now a she was a girl. Well I hope everything goes well with Miss Toby. lol And Congratulations of your new baby girl. :) |
I got an email from the breeder and this is what she stated. Didn't even open the photo, because you are right we accidentally gave you Mandy and the lady who was supposed to get Mandy and picked puppy up yesterday before I read your email, just phoned me telling me she has a boy and of course, she paid for a girl $700 and she wants a girl. I know you are attached to the puppy, but you paid for a boy $500, if you wish to keep the girl puppy I will have to have you send me the additional $200, or you may choose to bring your puppy back and get the boy. I am sorry for all of this confusion. Let me know your decision. SO I RESPONDED WITH THIS. This is not at all possible because we have spent a week with the pup to try to addapt to her needs, and we feel as if it is not at all our fault because we did not realize he was a she untill a week later. If we had found out about this a day or 2 after before getting attached then it would not be a problem of returning her but there is no way we can return her now. I feel the 200 should be ignored because it is entirely not our fault. we have grown attached to the puppy and treat her like our own child we could only afford 500 or else we would have paid 700 for a girl at the time. We were just as shocked when we found out our toby was a girl, but there is not much we can do now except hope that you will understand that the situation is entirely out of our control. we cannot pay you the extra 200 and you can refuse to send us the akc papers if you wish, but we wish you find it in your hearts to do so because it was entirely not our fault and the matter is out of our hands. What do you guys think here on yorkie talk, am I right or am I wrong? I feel that what I'm doing is right and the mistake was on the breeders side and not mine. |
As for the correct AKC papers, is there a way to contact the AKC and get my pup the akc papers? I have the litter number the akc assigned to my pup and im sure the breeder will refuse to send me the correct papers, does anyone have an idea on how I could persue such. |
Oh my goodness In my opinion, that breeder is Ridiculous. How does she expect someone who has Already fallen in love with a puppy return the puppy or send her more money. That is entirely her fault. It's not like you did it on purpose or anything. I think you did the right thing. I would tell her to keep the papers if she wanted to be cold hearted and all then that is on her consience. Once again not your mistake. She should have to deal with the problem of what to do with the people that accidentally got the boy. I feel you are doing the right thing. After all its papers vs. Miss Toby.lol I honestly do not know how I could return a puppy reguardless of gender after I had fallen in love with him/her. Good Luck. Keep us posted :) |
Is there a way to contact the AKC and get the papers myself for my pup? I do have the copy of the AKC Online Litter Application, it states the breed and litter number along with the date of birth and all the necessary info. Is that enough to prove that the pup belongs to me? Would the AKC send me the correct papers for my pup? |
Papers As for the papers I am not really for sure what to do. Visit AKC's Website www.akc.org and also here is what I copied off AKC's website for you. I called them to ask them some questions and they were VERY helpful, they can also give you advise. Customer Service phone: (919) 233-9767 This office is responsible for handling all calls involving any type of registration question or problem. When you want any AKC registration forms or answers to registration questions, this is the office to call. If you are calling about a registration application, keep in mind that the normal processing time is approximately two to three weeks. Hope this helps. ;) |
Well, wow! This is just plain and simply NOT your fault. What happens to the other people simply isn't your problem (I know that sounds cold, but come ON!) The breeder should have made sure this didn't happen. I really don't think the burden should be on YOU for her mistake. Hopefully she'll have learned her lesson and will keep something identifying on the puppies from now on. I'd be interested to see how the other breeders here on Yorkie Talk would handle this situation. Take care and PLEASE keep us posted on how this is turning out. |
I will have to contact the AKC first thing tomorrow, and I'm also waiting for a response from the breeder and see what she says about my response to her email. I will keep you guys posted! |
simplythi== you need the pup registry papers the AKC sent the breeder;it has sire and dam names and numbers plus the breeders signature among other things; sorry ; jerry |
It's a girl A later post http://yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1969 seems to indicate that they found out over the weekend that Toby was indeed a girl and that the breeder made a mistake. |
It was the breeders mistake, I do have the sire's registration number, and the damns registration number along with the litter number my toby came with. |
I'm about to go pick up my little puppy soon. Man, I better make sure I have the right sex dog when I walk out that door! |
If you don't plan to breed her than the paper are not important. Both of mine have papers but I didn't even register them, the are both fixed. did you sign a contract with her saying you were to get a male dog? You took her to the vet, how much did it cost? That is money you have put into Miss Toby. If you could come up with a $100 dollars and split the extra cost of Toby being a female, maybe the breeder would drop it, I would hate to think she could get the puppy back after you have come to love her so much. Let the breeder know you have put money into Toby, taking to vet, supplies, ect. If she knew you had already but $200 in to her and you would want that money back. Just some suggestions. I hope you get to keep Miss Toby................Cindy |
