Teething like crazy! I have a 5 month old puppy and he is teething like crazy...which i know is normal, but the thing is he loves to bite me or any other person he comes in contact with. I bought him a bunch of toys and bones for him to chew on, which he does....but lots of the time while he's in my arms or when I hold him...he wont stop trying to bite my fingers, sweatshirt, etc. Is there any way to train him so he will stop teething on people's fingers and clothes and just stick with his chew toys??? Thanks in advance! |
Give him a sharp NO when he bites you and give him something he's allowed to chew on and praise him. He'll catch on soon ;) |
Try not to let him bite on your fingers you don't want him getting used to that or especially trying to bite others. A good trick is when he starts trying to bite on your finger tell him NO and give him a bone or a toy immediately, hopefully that can correct it that's what I used to do with mine when he was going through a teething phase... |
Be patient, he'll catch on. In the meantime, tell him 'NO BITE', put him on the floor & ignore him. Don't look at him, touch him, or make eye contact. After a bit, try it again. He'll learn if he wants attention, he has to behave. This is a hard stage to get through, but he'll get there if you keep working with him. I used to side track Roxy a lot with her toys... over & over & over. Keep toys handy allll the times. |
