Something to think about I have always been one of these people that thought the less people who knew I had yorkies in my home the better. But I have change my mind after seeing a house fire and trying to make sure there was no one in the house banging on doors, blowing truck horn and yelling at the top of my lungs, by the time fire dept got there the house was engulf in flames. Thank god these people had no inside pets. The owners had just left there house 10 mins before. So I am putting on all my outside doors those little stickers that tell how many pets are inside the home so the fire dept. or someone like me that just happen by as smoke was coming out of the roof will know my babies are inside that house and maybe they can save them. |
That is definitely a good idea. The parents of a my good friend just lost their home to a fire and their 2 schnauzers died in the fire. It is so sad to lose your home and losing your furbabies also would make it excrutiating. |
I ma careful who knows I have 3 dogs, but I do have a sticker for the fire dept that shows I have 3 dogs. I always lock them up when I have workmen in the house even though they can tell by the barks they are small they don't know what kind they are. That was wonderful of you to try and make sure no animals were in that house!! |
The stickers are a great idea. I wonder where you find them? Petsmart maybe? |
What a great post we had a fire next door and were evacuated and I wasn't home at the time my husband in a fit got the kids out but if it wasn't for the sign on the door the fire fighter might not of reminded him about evacuating the dog snake and fish tank the police even helped transfer the fish as hawling a 50 gallon was not an option |

Those stickers are a really good idea. I'm going to get a few...thanks! |
i have pet and tot finder on the tot finder i wrote dog cat guinia pig bunny rat mouse turtle gecko and crab (well human to for the kids) so they know what they are looking for but im lucky the firestation is two blocks from my house and on our walking path so all the firemen know gatsby and im confident that they would not leave until he was found |
I have one on the slider's facing my deck. I got mine from the Humane Society sometime ago. I think it's a great idea to let the firemen, just in case, know that live animals live inside if a fire occurs. Heaven forbid! |
Dogs and Fire. 1 Attachment(s) Something I found interesting. So here's the story. The Doberman is pregnant and the firefighter just saved her from the fire. When the firefighter sat down to relax (after the fire was put off) the doberman went near him and thanked him this way. (If the picture won't show you can simply image.google search "doberman and firefighter") I was thrilled. It really made me cry. Attachment 299576 |
I also have one on the front door and the back door. I got mine at Petco. |
That is a very sweet picture of the doberman and the firefighter. I have this sticker and got it from my realtor when we bought our house. I need to get an updated one though. We had two cats at the time that we no longer have. |
