Sage gets Spayed Please keep Sage in your prayers, she gets spayed in the morning.:( I'm worried about her. I think she knows she didn't really have a good day today. She peed on the floor and wouldn't eat for the longest. I'm not sure what to expect when I pick her up. She's such an active doggie and I worry how she'll be afterwards. Please give me any advice that might make things easier for her. Sage's mom |
My boys were both neutered last Friday. Most importantly, make sure you are sent home with pain medication. The boys needed it. Also, I recommend keeping yourself busy during the day of the surgery, because I am sure you'll be a worried mama! The first night will probably be harder on you than her. I was so worried about the boys, I didn't sleep. I checked on them constantly, and let them sleep with me. Just remember that you're doing a good thing for your baby and the 1st 24 hours are hardest. She'll be fine, and you'll be glad you did this for her! |
Just make sure she has a nice comfortable place to relax for the first 24 hours... also, the pain meds! Those are important. Just relax... and she will do great!! |
She'll be fine! It'll be over before your know it. The hardest part is keeping yourself occupied during the day. I went crazy calling everyone I know. I just recalling everyone all day. First my boyfriend, mom, grandma, boos, friends, and back to my boyfriend. I couldnt be by myself. Once you pick her up you'll be able to relax with her home. She'll just want to sleep all whole night. She probably wont eat much either. Meeko just had his teeth cleaned yesterday, and he's hyper and active like your Sage, he was so sleepy. It was weird having the house so quiet. The past 2 years we've had him running around like a nut all night. |
Just checkin' in to see how Sage and you are doing this morning. |
Thanks :)Thanks you all I feel a little better. I didn't sleep to well last night I just want it to be over. But we're off on a walk then ... I'll keep you posted. Oh my friend offered to keep me entertained today so here goes. |
We've sent prayers for little Sage...Apple was spayed on October 29th, and did just fine...One thing I wasn't ready for was all her little accidents on the floor (she's housebroken)...I then found out since they give them fluids, she had lots of liquid to release...It took a few days to get back on schedule, but she did :)...She wasn't herself for a couple of days, but by day 3, she was very much improved, and I had to watch that she didn't jump around too much...She also bloated a little bit, right after surgery, and that freaked me out...I took her to the vet, the next day, and she said she was doing just fine...As soon as she had her first bm, she was o.k. there too...Just give her lots of attention, pets, love and comfort, and she'll be good as new, before you know it.... |
Sage will be just fine - you're doing the right thing by having her spayed. I was scared to spay Rio because she's only 2.6 lbs, but I knew it had to be done. So 2 days ago Rio was spayed and had 4 baby teeth pulled out. She was VERY groggy when we brought her home that evening. She slept for the first couple of hours and was shaking at first. I called the vet and they said that she is most likely still metabolizing the anesthesia and to just make sure she was warm so I turned the heater up and put a blanket on her. About 4 hours after she was home, she managed to eat a small meal (softened kibble) that I hand fed her. She did go poo and pee outside before we went to bed for the night. I gave her a pain pill before bedtime. The next morning she was still a little weak but MUCH better than the night before. By the evening, she was running around and I was soooo worried about her jumping on and off the couch but she didn't seem to be in pain. Some people report odd potty habits after spay surgery but we've been lucky - Rio continues to potty outside like she always has. Soft hug to Sage - get well soon! |
All's well :DWe're home and Sage is sleeping. They said things went well today. She was so excited when they brought her out to see me and I got nervous. But she was fine and pretty quiet on the ride home. When we got here she sat up when we pulled onto the street. I had a friend hold her when I took her stuff in the house then I carried her in. Well she went right next to the couch and peed. I didn't let her go outside cause the ground was wet (it's been raining) and I was gonna put a diaper on her. So i took her to her bed and she laid right down. She didn't like the collar but she's doing fine. I'm so happy it's over. Let's hope tonight goes well. Asha, Sage's Mom |
Glad she is ok. I used preemie onsies to keep them from the stitches. Those collars are so annoying. |
Glad everything went well. I have two different collars I'm using on Rio while she's recovering from her spay surgery. One is an inflatable collar I got from PetSmart (like a donut around her neck) and the other is the Soft E Collar from one of the Yorkie Talk friends "Mom To Hot Rod". I use both interchangeably and Rio seems to be okay with both. Make sure to keep your baby calm and don't let them jump around! |
Glad to hear that Sage did well. Just keep her quiet for a while. She'll let you know when she's feeling better. lol. Maggie was hurting the first night and was a little quiet the next day but was fine after that. We wound up giving her some pain meds the first night. :) |
Glad to see that Sage is doing well. My little guy had 8 baby teeth pulled today. I got him home and he is pretty groggy yet. I did get him to eat a little for supper. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day. I hate to see the little guy not feeling well. |
So glad little Sage is doing well...She won't really be herself tonight, and tomorrow she'll be a little bit upset, but I bet the next day she's fine...They come out of these surgeries soooooo much better than we do!!!One Vet told me, years ago, that no one tells them they're supposed to hurt, so they really don't hurt for very long...Hope you both get some sleep tonight, and we'll look in tomorrow to see how the night went for your both...Take care.... |
The night went ok. I took the diaper off cause it was bothering her and she actally got one off. I kept waking up but she was fine and slept most of the night. I normally take her out at 530 to pee and I some how slept through the alarm. At 6:30 she was sitting on her bed looking at me. I took her out and she did nothing. This happen 2 more times, she hadn't peed since 5pm yesterday. She refused food and water last night but today was all about the eating. I gave her a little and about and hour later gave her some more since she seemed fine and was still hungry. I am happy to report that at 9:30 she went out and peed. She doesn't seem to be in pain at all just less active. The e collar botherd her at first but now she's fine. I think you're right it's harder for us.:) Asha, Sage's Mom |
