Then again, I'm always up for debate...we can have a circumcision thread in the off-topic forum is anyone wants to. |
It is a barbaric practice and one of the main reasons I don't much care for the breed standard as outlined and adopted by the YTCA and the AKC. There is a movement in this country and around the world to outlaw all cosmetic surgery on dogs which would include tail docking and ear clipping. There are several countries in Europe who have already done so like Germany. I think the breed standard calls for it because working dogs did damage their tails quite often while working but this is not an issue any longer since yorkies are companion dogs primarily now. I have done the research on the pain issue as well and they feel the pain!! it is horrible, not the least bit caring and I abhor the practice and cannot wait until it is illegal. :thumbdown |
i think they look beautiful with the long tails, but i think they look cute with the docked ones also. i think if tucker had a long tail and it didn't lay on his back like other breeds with fluffy tails, i would end up closing it in a door or something (i don't know just sounds like something i would do) |

When I had my puppies tails docked....they cried... no make that screamed allllll niiiggghhhtt...it was horrible...you can NOT tell me it does not hurt them....I felt horrible....if i ever breed Zoe again...the puppies will not have their tails docked....how can it not hurt them.....have you ever felt how thick their tails are....the dew claws I can see removing because they can catch on things...but as far as Yorkies breaking their tails...they can break their legs just as easy....the only reason I docked their tails was because my breeder said it was best for them and it does not hurt...well I now know different....wish I had this knowledge two weeks ago..... |
