I have a question... Okay. So Karlee cries. Not just at night but all the time! I can't figure out what's wrong. I'm new to this b/c Bentley never cried. Is it just because of the change of environment?? |
Sometimes a big change in environment causes yorkies to cry (whine). Also, if there is someone they are missing. Bender cried the first couple nights we were in the US, and he still cries sometimes if I go out to the grocery store and he doesn't have one of my mother's yorkies with him. He is just not used to the new home yet, and he's missing my husband, who won't be here for about a month. If your dog is constantly whining for no reason, you may want to contact a vet, just to make sure your puppy is perfectly healthy. If they were just barking I'd say it was just talkative, but I'm not sure about the whining/crying thing. You may want to check it out to be safe. ~LeAnn |
I don't know if it is the same, but a couple of mine 'talk'. My little girl, Robyn, stands about three feet away, looking at you she goes 'rrrrrrrr'. If you put your hand down she will run to you. She wants to be with you all the time. She is a princess and will not jump up or down, will not climb up stairs, etc. Maybe try a little extra attention for a bit??? ;) |
If she is being held ..she won't cry..it's only when she's on the ground...and the "rrrrr" your talking about..She does that to Bentley!! So i know what that sounds like..i just can't figure out why she's crying! Maybe she does just need more attention.. I'm just trying to give them both equal attention so Ben does think i like her more than him! |

Olivia does the "rrrr" thing all the time. I always thinks she sounds like a little baby dinosaur! I love it and try to mimick the sound back to her to encourage her to do it! Olivia never cried (well, other than the first night in her crate), but I'm sure she's just nervous coming into a new house with a new dog. |
I try to give mine equal attention, too. I don't want anyone to be jealous. You might try talking to her when she whines, too. If you decide it is just becoming a bad habit, I would try a squirt of water. |
Maybe she is cold and just needs a little sweater. :D |
Miko never really whines, but when we go to my mother-in-law's house, he whines constantly there because he's out of his comfort zone and he's not allowed outside without a leash because he loves to run out of their private gate. I hate hearing him do that, so I try to keep him busy...Also, if my husband or I go outside and leave him inside, he whines too. At our house though, he never cries! :) |
I'm sorry, neither one of mine has done that, so I was trying to figure out why because it is a natural thing, especially when they are out of their comfort zone. The only thing I can think of is making sure each has their own stuffed toy and a blanket to cuddle with and I make sure I get on the floor with mine and play or just sit with them. Lacey was so tiny, I put a really fluffy blanket in her crate so she would feel nice and warm. She's over a year old and still loves that blanket. Since I am retired and my husband is ill, we are home practically all the time, perhaps that's it, they are rarely alone and therefore feel so secure all the time. |
When we first brought Tucker home, he cried too. I think he missed his mom and litter mates. He also probably missed the breeder, Kim, afterall he was born in that house. try a heating pad, and at night a ticker clock. good luck! Karlee is cutie! |
Could it be a difference in potty training? I know Chewy will whine when he needs to go outside. If he were suddenly in a pee-pad home, he would not know what to do and would be holding it all the time. |
Ahhhh, poor BABY. Did you bring anything with you from the breeders to comfort her with the smell maybe? maybe the breder could send something. Have you discussed this with the breeder. It may be a personality trait that the mother or father has and she inherited it. Just a thought. I hope you figure it out soon. |
Hey Kelz-Did you get a new puppy?? That's awesome, boy do I need to catch up! Anyway, Scout whines too-we call him whiny britches :-) He seemed (and seems) to do this at random times. Now that he's older (a whopping 4 months old) I think he is talking to me. He does this little growly-bark when he wants to get my attention. He whines and cries when we are out for a walk and we stop. He wants to keep going. It's kind of like a baby who is just getting cereal for the first time and cries between bites because they want it faster..LOL He cries in the car some-anxiety I think. It's just their way of communicating in some form. I'm trying not to "reward" him for the anxiety crying and "lets go" crying by ignoring it because I don't want him to keep doing that. Good luck with your new baby! |
Charlie is a pup and does this too in a talky kind of way when he wants attention from Bitsy or one of us. Sometimes he does it right before he goes to sleep. I love it and think it's so cute:) I think he does it for attention and because he knows it works :D Bitsy is the only other of our that does this...and she is four :) |
I think she was just scared! She's doing really well now! Last night was her first night in the crate and she only cried like 3 times!! and each time was only for about 2 mins!! But i think she warmed up to Bentley she follows him everywhere! |
I think Miko cries because when we're at my mother-in-law's house, we're constantly on the go...and he's used to my husband and I being with him all the time. :) |
Poor baby! I think its the change of environment. |
