Got me thinking... All this talk about treats has got me thinking...I've heard several of you talking about giving fruits and veggies for treats. I know yorkies can't have raisins or grapes but what can they have and how much? Thanks!!! |
I sometimes give a little bit of carrot or green beans after reading others here give both to there yorkies. It's just about 1 green bean when I cut it up or maybe half of a baby carrot cut up through out the day. I don't really give her much of either for fear of upsetting her tummy. I've seen people mention cheerios, but Sass has such a sensitive tummy I worry about trying very many things. I tried a few little apple pieces before and it didn't sit well on her tummy. |
Mine love small pieces of mellon. Luckily our grocery store sells it even in the winter |
Sophie likes little bits of carrot and a green bean while I 'm cooking. She also loves little bites of apple or melon. Actually, she probably would like anything as she is not a fussy eater but I limit her human food. She really likes the Mother Hubbard baked dog treats in chicken, apple, carrot, egg and oatmeal. I buy the small biscuits and break them in half. They are crunchy which I perfer to the soft treats that tend to stick to the teeth. |
We do apples, carrots & green beans. I just bought some cherrios so we will see if she likes those. Lola is pretty good when it comes to eating and hasn't had any problems. |
Jack eats any and everything! Carrots, apples, small bits of celery (we are careful to remove the strings) and he even scarfed down a small piece of green pepper the other night - and he liked it! |
Ollie goes nuts for cauliflower, broccoli, cooked carrots (won't touch em raw), apple slices, seedless watermelon, sweet potato and turnip. He also likes red and green peppers, but I limit those as they can be tough on his tummy. He gets more fruits and veggies than treats, there is always something in the fridge for him. |
I will have to try some of these because I would much rather use fruits and veggies than dog treats that are probably unhealthy for them. I've given cheese and peanut butter for a treat but not too much. I don't know if Tucket has a sensitive tummy yet but I guess I have to find out at some point. |
I give a bit of cheese too, I forgot. Not much and not often, but once in a while some cheese, or grilled chicken breast too. |
Prince will not eat veggies nor fruit. I tried green beans, carrots and apples. The green beans and carrots were unseasoned and steamed. |
My guys LOVE cucumbers, carrots, Celery, & Apples & They HATE Bananas!!! |
Bonnie loves anything we are eating, but I only give her the healthy treats. She loves carrots, apples, sweet potatoes *all raw or streamed* She will even eat raw asparagus. |
Wow! I haven't had a chance to try it yet but I have a bit of carrot on hand that I am going to try. It's been a busy weekend. All of these snacks are making ME hungry especially the sweet potatoes. :D Maybe I have Thanksgiving on the brain... |
Snickers LOVES: carrots, apples, semi-ripe banana (he refuses over ripe-BRAT!), strawberries, cucumber, melon, blueberries, pineapple etc... I'm eating it...he will eat it:) -Snick & Viv |
