For those with three... Okay, how much harder is three than two. I LOVE my two girls and I am thinking of getting a third. My two are great and so easy, granted I wish Nikki would pick up the potty training a little faster, LOL!!!!!!! But I just love them to pieces. Will it really change the way things are bringing another baby in the house, or will it just be that much more puppy love and kisses? Just curious before I take the plunge on all your thoughts about this. You all have alot more experience than I have. I know I have the love and room in my life for another one but wanted your advice!!! Thanks!!!!! |

I have 3 and until my pom passed earlier this year had 4. I love it. It was easier when I had 4 because I like to take 2 to the vet or when I go some where that I can take them and now I don't like to leave one home alone. That and walking is harder with 3 but I would have more if I could. If the right one comes along I know I will have 4 again. I say go for it. |
No problem with us getting a third one. Took a bit of getting use to, but now it's great!! |
man, my husband needs to read this!! I desperately want to add a 3rd, but he is very reluctant... |
I have 3. Two boys one girl. The only problem I have is Rosco doesn't like to share me with Bo. He will with Daisy, but not Bo. I have to get on to him sometimes. Rosco thinks he is the dominant one. I believe Bo just lets him think that:rolleyes: Rosco follows me where ever I go in the house. Whether than that 3 is no problem. |
I'd love to add a third too but my mom is reluctant. We have alot of stuff to get sorted next year so one more at the moment probably wont be practical, plus I'd like Rosie spayed first as I want another girl and hopefully it means we wont get issues when the other one comes into season. We used to have 8 so a third wouldn't be that much trouble. |
Over at my dad's house they have 2 dogs, and I bring Jackson over a lot making 3. I do think 3 seems a lot harder than 2, however... their dogs, 1 in particular, isn't the best behaved and that makes a huge difference. If you have the time to dedicate to training 3, I think it'd be a piece of cake but I could never deal with 3 dogs barking, peeing, begging, not being well behaved all the time like it is over there. The one starts barking, they ALL start barking.... very annoying. On the other hand, I dogsat for 2 nights for a friend who has 2 dogs and I slept there for 2 nights and walked all 3 on their leashes and it really wasn't that bad because they all were well behaved dogs and pretty easy and kept each other company. There was no bark sessions or anything. Our leashes got tangled up a few times, lol, but by the end of the 2nd day, I had it down! |
I just got my 3rd a couple of months ago. I have 2 girls and 1 boy. I put the belly band on the boy. He is the new one. The belly band makes it easier than even with potty training girls in my opinion. He is a really good boy. I don't think adding a 3rd is any easier or harder. It's kind of like the same. |
I have 3 right now and there are definitely more in my future. I don't think having 3 is much different care-wise, than having two. The only thing that bothers me a little is that the more you get, the harder it is to take them all with you when you go somewhere (if that's what you like to do), so you have to take turns with them. That's where I have to agree with the previous poster (Patti) that having 4 is even better because then one never has to be left home by themselves. :p |
We have four and are so used to it that it doesn't seem bad...to us anyway. I may be taking on a few more in the next couple of months as well. ;) Livi and Huck might be expecting. I think that the most difficult thing for you would be trying to get Nikki and a new puppy completely housebroken. Maybe once you have Nikki trained, it would be easier to decide on a 3rd. Good luck on your decision! Tammy |

I am going to get three, just need to make sure it is the right healthy puppy! Thanks for letting me know things are going good with you!!!! |
I want to add a third as well! Still having to work on hubby! |
So Three is not crazy! I am so glad that I came across this thread. I have been lurking for the past few months watching for just the right puppy, working on the husband and trying to decide if three was just plain crazy. I am so gald to hear it is not. Thank you.:) I also have a dominate male so after doing some research and some advice from YTr's have decided that our 3rd baby will be a female....hoping to avoid any aggression in the house along with possibile marking(though my male is neurtered). My family loves our little boy and girl and they are well behaved and love visitors. When we go out, we usually bring only one though, leaving the other at home. I am hoping that by having 3 that the two left at home will now have company and not be so sad. Hubby has finally agreed to three and we are now looking! Wish us luck in joining the merry club of those with three.:aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork |
1 Attachment(s) I tried to post this picture earlier. Gus is dominant & territorial, but Niko won his heart in a couple of days. Picture was taken day 7 after I brought Niko home. |
I have three and day to day things are just fine, there are only a few things you need to consider. It is more difficult to walk three (My little girl will only walk by herself and the boys just want to be in front of each other) I have to juggle when they get groomed because it's absolutely too expensive to pay $90 bucks a pop to get them done at the same time. Vet expenses are also tripled. Thankfully all mine have been healthy and have only had to go in for routine checkups and shots. But I wouldn't give up Ranger for the world, he's added so much joy and excitement to our house! |
I got Saydee, my second, just three weeks ago, but I'm still lurking in the nursery threads and drolling over all the sweet baby pictures. I would love, love, love to get the third one, but I really, really, really must not go there now! :p |
Awww...Gus and Niko look like best friends already. |

Yeah, some of my family think I am crazy for having two, but they are NOT dog people. Wait until I get my third, they will start calling me the crazy dog lady. I just love them so much!!! |
