Simon broke his front leg Simon and Nigel were playing on our bed Saturday morning and Simon fell and broke his leg. The vet put a "soft" cast on him and he goes for operation on Tuesday (hopefully, a different Vet does the operations). So I fed Simon and he has not pottied since this happened. Should I be comcerned? I fed him chicken and rice and nutrical and forced fed him water. Please let me know if I should try, and how to make him go potty. PS. I posted this on the emergency forum, but I thought I'd post here too because morepeople visit here. So sorry if you read this post twice. I'm just scared and worried. |
Sorry for the poor little guy. Unfortunately, I'm no expert and can't give you any good advice. I would think he'll eventually go when he has go bad enough. You might try supporting him and telling him to pee or poop. I'll try googling it and let you know if I find anything. |
I posted to you in the Emergency Section - I just want to say I'm sorry again - that's scary and I hope he heals very quickly - You were getting some great advise about eating and it sounds like you're doing pretty well....IF he's on medication it will interfer with him going potty also ....I hope he feels better soon - poor baby |
Poor Simon! I hope that the surgery goes well, it must be a pretty bad break. If your not comfortable with the vet, you tell them that you would prefer another one, it's your baby... |
I'm sorry I didn't see you're other post. I'd make sure you were giving him either pediatlye or nutrical, and by all means if your not happy with you vet get another one to do the surgery. |
I don't have any advice for you but I just wanted to tell you how sorry I am that this happened. I hope the surgery goes well. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep us posted on how he does. Tanya |
I used to have a Jack Russell terrier and he broke his leg when he was only 4 months old. The people at the emergency vet told us it would have to have surgery to repair (they put a soft cast on it). When we took him to our vet, he said he didn't think surgery was needed and he said we could wait and see how the break healed. Sure enough it healed correctly and no surgery was needed. Of course, your situation may be totally different, but if you are not completely comfortable with the recommended course of action, you should seek another opinion. I know it is hard though, because it is the weekend. We were in the same situation too as it was over the Memorial Day weekend. Anyway, good luck with your decision. |
