Chewing and eating everything!!!! I have a 11 week old yorkie male, who gets into everything, i have put everything up so he can't reach it and make sure i dont have anything on the floor but yet he manages to find something, ill catch him with a small piece of paper and by the time i try to get it out of his mouth he already ate it. How can i make him stop eating random things, and will it harm him? I really don't want to keep him in his play pen or confined to a small space. |
I am totally new to this so I am not sure you should take my advice, but I have the same problem with my 14 wk old male and I tie a six foot lease to my belt loop and let him roam that way and that has eased the chewing and CALMED HIM. I work with teens and sometimes these adorable little "babies" remind me more of teens and I have found some teens just need stricter boundaries. Maybe the same is true for Yorkies! I might have to take your advice, and when im at work he is in his play pen to. I have so many toys for him but he wants to find everything else to chew on! |
I can sweep and vacuum three times a day and my yorkie will find the smallest something on the floor and eat it. The good news is he doesn't do it as much as he's gotten older but I still find random things in his mouth. Thankfully since I do keep the floor picked up so much, it's usually not harmful...just gross. |
believe me i do the same im always checking on the floor to make sure i don't find anything, but he can find it, especially in the kitchen, it can be a crumb and he will eat it, i just worry he will try and eat something that is no good for him. |
Zeke is over a year old and he still eats everything he can get his mouth around. We have to watch him really close when we walk him or when we take him to someone else's home. We have everything put up, but he still finds things. I guess it is just their nature, and we just have to be very vigilant. |
