Agressive behavior humping for dominance I need some advise on Harley's aggressive behavior. He does not want anyone to touch me, hug me...whatever. If my husband just reaches over and puts his hand on me Harley will immediately start humping on him. If you tell him no and gently push him off he gets very aggressive. It makes him so mad!!! He is a little over a year old and was neutered at 6 months. After his neutering he calmed down on the humping alot but not for long. He was right back at it within a couple of months of being neutered. It wouldn't be so bad if he didn't show the aggressive behavior when we try to correct him but that behavior is driving me nuts. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. |
He thinks he owns you. You need to teach him that you are in charge of him not the other way around. Has he had any obedience classses? |
I'm not sure what you mean by "he gets very aggressive." I think you are correct to tell him "no" and push him away when he does this. I'm wondering if anyone in the house ever allowed this behavior with humans? You need to be firm but not aggressive when you say no, and repeat every time he tries to do this with a human. I agree, he thinks he is dominant, and there are several things you can do to show you're the boss. I believe that a dog is actually happiest knowing that the humans are the bosses, and he can give up the roll of top dog. Cesar suggests always making the dog sit before you give him his food bowl, and make the dog stay until the release command has been given. A dog should understand all food comes through you. Also, walking in a purposeful way with your dog makes him feel like he's a valuable member of the pack, but not the pack leader. I am with Nancy on applying Cesar Milan's methods. Discipline and exercise first then affection. Your husband or whom ever he tries humping should stand up and tell him "NO" then walk away. |
