Barking is driving me nuts Winston is 17 mos old and has never been a barker. Within the last month he has started to bark at just about everything (telephone, doorbell, sudden noise etc.) I don't mind him barking but I would like some suggestions on how to get him to stop when I want him too. He is a great little watch dog now and I like the fact that he barks when I need him too, but his barking is getting somewhat out of control. |
So weird! My dog started barking at around 17 months too for no reason! Funny noises out in the hall (we live in a condo) or on TV that never bothered him before made him bark all of a sudden. We quickly corrected him. QUIET! NO NOISE! And he would stop. He now does not have these barking fits as often at all. I wonder if it is some sort of phase? |
My baby is 1 this month a still barks at the TV or if the cats sneak in, night is when we have the most problem, he thinks a cat is hiding under the bed but its just the bed linen moving while I get comfy any way I have managed to quieten him a bit by saying quiet and shoosing him, then he barks with mouth closed which sounds so cute, if that dosen't help time out in cage will work if you're consistant and do it as soon as problem occurs, they soon figure out why they are in trouble. |
I recently (after debating doing it for a long ) bought a Innotek anti bark spray collar for 1 of my Yorkie's. When he goes out side he barks constanlty at everything and everybody. After just one afternoon with this collar on he is like a changed dog. My next door neighbors are absolutly amazed and I can finally have a conversation with my neighbors when he is out side. I don't need it at all for inside of the house, but I am sure if I needed too it would work great. Before I went to this collar for 2 years I have tried every trick it the book. I bought it on ebay. |
Shake a can with change in it to rattle at the onset of barking. |
I don't mind Reesie barking. She usually sees a deer or something else in the yard before Cindy so she's a great watch dog. What started last week is a little beyond tolerable though. She's started barking at me, then runs to the TV and jumps at it, turns around and yaps at me. She won't stop until I pull up a TIVO of DOGS101 and then she goes and lays on the couch to watch! You all think I'm kidding? I wish I was. |

I had a problem with my English Cocker Spaniel, she would just start barking for no reason. I finally broke down and bought a 'muzzle'. Now before everyone gets upset with me, when she started barking for no reason, I put the muzzle on her for 5 minutes. Within a day, all I needed to say when she started barking was 'do you want the muzzle on?'. By weeks end she stopped barking. Now I have Misty and Cassie and they have started barking for no reason, Mazie then jumped in I put muzzle on Mazie and everyone quite barking. I know that a lot of people won't approve, but it worked for me. |

this works, I use it for my doxies, and they get quiet within one or two shakes of the can/cup. I am still hopeful for my yorkie... Carla :aimeeyork |

We do lots of stuff but she does like to watch TV. |
Keegan thinks he's Mayor McCheese & should admonish anyone who walks past or thinks about walking past HIS house or drives their boat in HIS canal...infact HE thinks the neighbor should not walk in any part of his own yard that HE can see. ENOUGH! I took a newspaper, rolled it up & smack it on my hand after I say "no". He is doing great with it . Very quick results. I guess it's kind of like the coins in the can but that sound even annoys me! |
they will keep barking if you don't stop them. you have to show that you are not amused when he barks, say "NO" or can also use a water spray to distract him. |
Please read the reviews on this product I know 2 people who have used this with great sucess and for 10 bucks I say its worth a shot Great reviews...:thumbup::thumbup: |
