Now that Max's brother is coming... What do I do? Like... Max has free run of the house. He is house trained. He has his own feed bowls & toys. I am sure he will share the toys because he gives them to the cat all the time to try to get her to play with him.-LOL I hope you see what I am asking... How do I merge the new untrained puppy with Max's lifestyle? Max is 1 year and 8 months old. How do pee pads work? Brany said he is pee pad trained. Sometimes in the winter I wish Max was pad trained. He hates rain and snow. I just started Max out at day one taking him outside and rewarding/treating /praising him when he went outside. Quietly cleaning up any inside mistakes so he did not see me. He caught on quick. How do I add a new fur baby to our house? THANKS!:) |
I've always found it easier if you already have a trained dog ahead of time. In my experience the new one follows the olders one lead. If he does poop in the house I pick it up, and put it outside where I want him to go. I hope this helps. |
I just got my puppy Lilee two weeks ago. I also have a fully trained 2 year old Cocker girl. This has made the adjustment for Lilee easier as she follows Cocoa's lead. I am using the potty pads and Lilee has caught on quickly ;) If she poops in the house I pick it up and put it on the pad where I want her to go, and if I catch her in the act  I take her over to the pad. I also have an ex-pen for times that I can't watch her (cooking, showering, etc) other than that, we all help out with watching her so she learns the rules of the house and can eventually have free reign :) Congratulations on your puppy - he's adorable! |
Prissy was 7 yrs. old when we brought Jasmine home. At first we were very worried bc Prissy had always been our only baby, but it was the best thing we could have ever done for Prissy. She loveeeeeeeeeeeees Jasmine and we think she instantly became at least 5 years younger. She plays with Jasmine all the time, but who could avoid darling little Jasmine (she would never allow that for one minute). Prissy took Jasmine in hand very quickly and taught her the ropes, what she could chew on, where she was to sleep, the best places in the yard, etc. She also helped with house training. Jasmine was slower to catch on with this, but at last she finally got it. Two are definately better then one. Their crates are side by side, for sleeping, so they are never alone. Have fun! |
