Ok, I know that you all are Yorkie "Experts" so I am going to ask you. I have been having a hard time finding a breeder here in SA. So since I am planning on getting my little baby next year in Feb or March, I want everyone's advise about looking in the news paper for one. I know there are a few of you out there that wouldnt even consider doing that, but I have been looking for over a year now and have not had any luck in finding a breeder here in SA, I really want someone local, I don't want to drive very far since DH wont be happy about the drive. I have emailed one breeder that is here on YT but she hasnt gotten back to me yet. Other than that, I really would like some advise about this.

Carla I suggest you check the breeders forum on here. I am sure we have a member or two that might be able to recommend someone locally for you.

Good luck in finding a baby. :D Also did you check the AKC breeder listing.:aimeeyork

yes, i have checked the breeders section here and found one who just replied to me, she lives here in SA, I also checked the AKC and the other one I forgot the name of the yorkie one that is ****************. there are only like two on each and tried to contact one and they never got back to me. I look at the classifieds and there are alot of ads for yorkies, would it really be a bad idea to get one from one of these people? Maybe they just dont have any means of getting the word out when it comes to selling their puppies. I just hope the breeder that I spoke to works out :)

It is very hard. Odds are what you will find in the paper are local hobby breeders or back yard breeders. You can explore the option of buying a pup that has to be shipped being as you don't want to drive too far.

Have you tried the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America breeder referral? They list breeders by state. Here is the link.

Yes that is the one I couldnt think of, I tried and also attempted to contact one of the breeders and they didn't reply back to me. There were only two listed for SA...

I got Abby from a breeder I found on YTCA. She lives 250 miles away from me, so it was a bit of a drive.
