I lost my baby! I have always fancied myself as a pretty knowledgable dog and puppy owner. Just like human babies, I puppy proof my house. Well, my 3 month old baby chewed throw a power cord and electrocuted herself last weekend. In all my years of having dogs I have never even come close to having this happen and it was so incredibly traumatizing to us all. She was doing very well at house training, and I was in the process of giving her a little more freedom to roam. When I thought she had found a nice cozy place to sleep since it was nap time, I never even realized she had honed in on a power cord. While I feel totally responsible and guilty, I am not here for sympathy, but rather to remind you of some dangers you may not normally think about. I looked long and hard for her....she was perfect. |
I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you for this needed reminder. |
I am so sorry for your lost .... |

I'm very sorry and thanks for sharing this, when my jasmin was just a pup she also chewed the power cord and got an electric shock but thanks god wasn't strong enough to kill her.....Like you I also tough of everything but.... Accidents happens and I'm sure you were really careful with your baby.... Again I'm so very sorry:( |
I\'m so sorry, I know how very hard it is. Thank you for the much needed reminder, as we all tend to slack as they get older!! :( |
I\'m so sorry for your loss. |
My sincere condolences. My puppies are 3 months old and they chew everything in sight. I will definitely be watching them more closely now thanks to this thread. RIP little one. :( |
I am so sorry for your loss, please don\'t blame yourself they are like little children as much as we try we can\'t always keep them from getting a fall or a bump on the head. just remember the good times that you had with her |
Thank you for the warning and sharing this with us. My heart goes out to you for your loss. |
I\'m so very sorry for your loss and can\'t imagine the pain you must be going through. I love my dogs with all my heart and as I\'m writing this, my 4 month old Morgan is sleeping on my lap. He\'s never chewed on power cords, but that doesn\'t mean he won\'t ever. Thanks for sharing your story and reminding all of us, that accidents can and will happen, no matter how careful we are. They can get into trouble in the blink of an eye and you did everything you could, so please don\'t blame yourself. You\'ll be in my thoughts and prayers. |
So very sorry for your loss! How terrible to lose her in that way. It is good to remind us all how quickly a puppy can get into something. I know I have several cords that have puppy teeth marks in them, I didn\'t even notice it until later! Please do not feel quilty abut what happened, it was an accident, not an on purpose. Martha |
I am so sorry for your loss. Thanks for the reminder that pups are like babies... they must be watched. Anything can happen in a split second. Hugs to you. |
I too am very sorry for your loss. It is almost impossible to really puppy proof a home, I have found that my Yorkie is much worse than any puppy I ever had at finding stuff to get into. |
I am so very sorry for this loss and how your baby died!!! Thanks also for this reminder as we all need reminders from time to time. Do not blame yourself for you sound like you were a good mommy and did the best you could, oh and what a reminder that these furkids are really like human children... sending hugs.. |
