Smarter than the other?? So I have been trying to teach tricks to Colt ( yorkie/chi ) and Marley ( yorkie ). Colt is 6 months and Marley is a little over a year old. Colt seems to learn so much better than her. I feel so bad for her. I try and I try and I try. Marley knows sit and lay down. Thats it. Colt, in the past month has learned , sit, lay down, shake, high five , and beg. Can someone please tell me what may help. I train with treats of course. Marley just looks at me when I try to teach her something and she just goes through sit and lay down over and over :p My DH jokes around that shes "special" but I really do feel bad for her. I know she can do it! She learned sit in like 5 minutes when she was almost a year old ( I did not get her until she was 8 months old ). I need advice because I want them to be equal to each other in tricks, if that makes any sense?? I want her to feel accomplished just like Colt.... |
Dogs, like kids, are all different. Maybe she just is not interested in learning any more than she has already. If she is happy, that should be enough. |
Ya maybe she is not as into it... I would just say keep trying.. maybe try to make it fun, treat her with a toy or playing. I have been training Peanut to do the "bang" trick and he will loose interest in me after 10 mins.. He will just walk away lol  |

Haha yeah thats pretty much it. I would just continue what you are doing.. I wouldnt give up on her, maybe she will get more into it as you go. I wouldnt count her out just bc of her "yeah whatever attitude" I dont really think she cares but at least the more you try with her she will be more willing to sit there lol. :D Keep up the good work! Training is hard work and takes time!! Some get it at the drop of a pen and some take a little longer  |
Different dogs have different interests regardless of their breed. Roxie is very smart and has lots of tricks up her sleeves, where Ryder gets nervous about making me happy and doesnt like doing them. Good luck and try something new with her to make her feel special! Give them both momma love time!:D |
