help with measuring my Yorkies i want to get Cleo and Max clothes for Christmas so i was just wondering how to measure them if they are a bit scared of the tape measure. i have tried to measure them before and they we're scared for a while after. just want to know if there are any other ways to know what size they are, or if there is a way to get them use to the tape measure. thanks in advance |
What kind of tape measure are you using? Do you have the soft material kind like a tailer or seamstress would use? If not, try using ribbon or piece of string and marking it with your finger, then measuring it with the measuring tape. |
Get one that sewers use they are plastic and they dont retract and make that noise they dont like |

The back measurement doesn't have to be exact either. As you've probably noticed most clothing just involves back measurements as a guide for length so don't worry bout nitpicking it to the last mm. You just need an estimate. Just as a tip... if you cut some strips of paper, and use your normal tape measure to make some markings you have a free "flexible tape measure" that will work more or less like the seamstress ones do and might scare your dog a bit less. You can also just take your thin taped up pieces of paper, bring them around and fold one side where they join and then measure that... it works just the yarn/string would except you can always keep it around for further reference and write name & measurement on it for future use. |
i took the advise to measure Cleo and Max with some ribbon and took the measurements down and looked on petlondon.com. i'm a little puzzled by what size to go for. Cleo's measurements are: Neck - 22cm Chest - 34 cm Length - 29cm Max's measurements are: Neck - 21cm Chest - 32cm Length - 28cm and where is the link to the petlondon sizes FAQ thanks |

The small should fit both, although Cleo is just on the edge of the chest measurement. I don't own any puppia clothes, so someone else might be able to help as to how generous their sizing is. I just have a harnesses. This is a really great chart in cm that should really help you too. http://www.lpetdesign.no/files//Pupp...%F8rrelser.pdf |
