new puppy i just got a 2 month puppy on saturday, and she will not stop crying. She cries all day and night but when we take her out to play she is very quiet and playful, but once we put her back into her area she cries. She has cried all day and night yesterday and to a point where she'll be so worked up about getting out that she wont eat, unless he point to her food. we really want to train her so that she can be obedient and playful yet still be able to go back to her area without a problem. |
when I first got my baby and had to put him in the cage to sleep at nite I purchased a wind up alarm clock and put it under a few blankets where he would lay .. to them it sounds like the mothers heartbeat.... it worked for my lil guy.... I also used a stuffed animal to keep in the cage so he didn't feel alone when we had to go out for a few hours.... these things worked for my lil guy ..maybe there are other tactics from othe fellow members.... hope these can work for you..... |
thanks for responding, but i have put a ticking clock next to her and put toys in her area. Today so far she has calmed down and stopped crying nonstop but if i walk past her area she'll jump around and go crazy, i also dont think she has been eating...but my dad said to ignore her so that she will learn not to get her way, but now that she has stopped crying excessively, do i take her out and play? or will she then act up again? |
Marley my first baby Hello to everone! I'm new to this site. I just got my 9 week old puppy Marley a week ago, he is so adorable. I have no problems with him at night when we go to sleep, I put him in the crate and he falls asleep right away. In the day time a place his crate in the kitchen and close off the kitchen for him to play around, I've also bought him several toys to play with while he's confined in the kitchen. I'm always home with him, but the only thing I'm mostly concerned about is that when i'm in the livingroom marley just lays down in his crate, he does not like to play by himself, he gets very excited when i'm in the kitchen, but i can't be with him all the time. i have about 3 more weeks off and then I have to go back to work. I'm afraid he'll be depressed and just lay in his crate all day. does anyone have any tips on what i can do? |
Dogs are social animals so being alone is a very new thing to them and its hard for them to get used to it Your dad is right let her be and she will eventually learn that you will come back for her But don't go and pick her up everytime she cries or you'll never have peace in your house It will take her a good week or two to get the message But enjoy your new little pup They're great :p |
Im sure you will get lots of helpful advice coming along soon, but i would just say that your little pup is very young...too young really to have left her mum, so will need lots of extra attention. Pleae don't let her go for long without eating or you could end up with a very poorly baby. At her age she should still really be playing with her siblings and snuggling up to her mum whenever she wants to, so i think you may have to spend more time with her, and be sure that she eats regularly, whatever it takes. Good luck, i hope she will soon settle into your routine. |

This breaks my heart...poor little thing. She must be scared and only wants to be loved. How much time is she spending outside of "her area"? She needs to be held and loved at this stage...Yorkie's really should stay with their mom's until they are 12 weeks and yours is 8 weeks. Just spend a lot of time with her and let her sit on your lap or chest and be loved...soon enough to train her. |

Just wear a sweater and tuck her in at the neck then you can carry her around almost hands free. A 8 week old puppy is too young for tough love! she will eventually become more independent but only if she feels secure in her family first! Just snuggle and enjoy! |
She's actually 11 weeks now that i checked her papers, but regardless i play with her all day but i do have other things to do and so when i do fence her in with all her toys she just cries, but after today she has been so much better and she is now eating once she's calm. Thank you for all the responses, they were all very helpful. |
