Teething puppy what can I give her to chew Mia is 15 weeks old and is chewing everything :p I thought maybe someone would have a good suggestion of what I can give her. She is so little I'm very careful what she gets. Thanks I would appreciate any suggestions!!!!! |
I used these as they were recommended by a lady here in town, I used to put them in the freezer and she would chew on them forever.... Never had poopy problems and they lasted a while when she was a puppy. Puppy Teething Ring |
I just finished reading a puppy training book(getting ready for Chloe coming home) and they had a great idea.....take a terry cloth washcloth, cut it up in about 6-8 strips wet it down and wring it out where it is not dripping but still has some wetness/water in it. Then roll it out on your counter like a little snake/hot dog and put the strips in the freezer. Then take one at a time out and give them to the puppy to chew on for teething and makes there gums feel better. When it gets unfrozen just take out another one etc. I cant wait to try this when she comes home to see how they would like it....I was thinking you could probably even run just a tiny smear of like peanut butter to make it more interesting to them to want to chew. |
thank they look big in the photo? Are they small enough for my little one? |
I have to post & say to be very careful. When Bella was a puppy, I bought one of the edible chewable bones to help with teething. I was so sorry after I gave it to her. I didn't know she would be able to eat so much of the thing so quickly! It was such a scare for her & me! She had trouble going to the bathroom. Without being toooo detailed.....it was too big for her & I had to put her in warm water.....bless her heart. Never Never again!:( |
:jump28ib:Yeah that's what I'm afraid of. But man does she need something to chew |

We used a toy from PetStages that you soaked with water and then froze. We even had 2 so that one could be used and the other could be freezing lol. |
teething 2 Attachment(s) My little Lucy is 14 weeks and also teething- I am a big fan of NYLABONES. They are great because they can chew and chew and chew and they don't break or come apart or anything. I keep them in the freezer sometimes so that they are cold. SHe loves them and apparently they are indestructible. My parents give them to their teething german shepard, too. I also have a few of the Petstages toys that you can put in the freezer, however- they both have fallen apart, so I do not recommend those without very close supervision. :) I posted some pictures of Lucy with her Nylabone! PS are your puppies ears back down? Lucy's ears had gone completely straight up and now that she is teething they have gone back down. I have heard this is normal, but was wondering some other people's experience. |
use the non-edible ones.... the edible bones are still made by nylanbone, which I recommend, but they can be eaten, which I do not recommend. If you get the nylabones that are NOT edible they are GREAT! |
Frozen Fruit I dice frozen peach slices for Sophie. She loves them. I also purchased a good old fashioned teething ring for human babies. I soak it in water and freeze it. When I sense that she needs to chew, I take it out of the freezer and she goes to town on it. |
Such great ideas! One good thing about the teething stage is my floors are super clean:p We keep all kiddlet toys off the ground (and reaching distance) but she can spot a barbie out of place in a few min. LOL I guess if I want do some purging of toys I can just leave them out for a few min. JJ I have had nylabones in the past that were the "non edible" but Lily even as a puppy chewed off a few chunks so I am cautious to try them again. Thanks! I think I may try the peanutbutter thing, she seems to get bord really easily... Yorkie much :) |
