Belly band question Is there anything i can have on Teddy like 24/7 that won't irritate him because I had him on belly bands because of his marking but they would irritate and one time he got an infection. And i cleaned them all the time. What can i get that i can have on him all the time? How do you that breed do it? Do you just constantly change their bands? |

I line mine with poise pads and change frequently. Wash and dry each changing. |

I buy the cheaper Equate Super pads at Wal Mart and cut them in half. I then just change them frequently. |

What type of pads were you using? Sanitary or Incontinence? I was told to get the Walmart brand of the Poise incontinence pad & they work great. |

I hate Poise or any generic of them. I like Serentity or what they now call Tena. I don't find Poise flexible. I think they hold odor. They are too firm. I've been buying these pads for more than 10 yrs. I've tried all of them. I like Wallmart generics. I buy Ultra Plus. With the new packaging it's the Heavy or 2nd to strongest one. It's not just the brand, it also matters which absorbency that you use. For belly bands if you don't have the correct one to cut you are better off using a whole pad with the tape in place----wrap around him then tape the pad on him. |

It's a matter of preferance, I have absolutely no leakage with Poise (hospital pads). As a breeder/exhibitor I've tried them all too. I do use a special belly band, made specifically to fit through wraps and made of satin (therefore not damaging coat), somewhat looking like a jock strap. I cut the pad in half and place it into the cup.....super absorbant. But since my studs go out frequently to urinate, I've found that their marking really doesn't wet the pad much. |

I use silk belly bands and either the Wal-Mart brand or the Tena incontinence pads. I change often and use baby wipes to clean them after every change. I also let them "air out" for several hours a day - I put the boys in the play-pen after they are cleaned for a long afternoon nap. I have a trick that helps keep the hair from getting matted. The pads tend to almost wrap around the entire belly ..... so ..... I buy the extra long pads, cut them in 1/2 and use my serger to sew the open area closed. They fit perfectly, DON'T LEAK, and I wind up with double the number of pads for the same price. Not only that, the belly bands are much more discrete without a pad hanging out the sides. |

This is going to sound really ridiculous, but what is a belly band for? |
