How big will she get? I am wondering how big my little girl is going to get. She is about 14 weeks and weighs 4 pounds...... however she is very small still. She is smaller that my little boy Yorkie, and he weighs only 2.5 pounds..... she just has thicker bones. Is there any way to really have an estimate of her adult weight. The breeder told me she would be around 4 pounds.... but she is already 4 pounds so I have no idea.:animal-pa |
I always hear to double the 12 week weight, but that is not true for yorkies sometimes. Do you know the weight of the parents? (Not even that matters sometimes though) I am sure you will get some better, more experienced advice! |
Her mom was 7lbs and her daddy was 4 pounds. The breeder said she had a puppy in the last litter that was about her size and she only grew to 3 pounds. My little boy was 1 pound when I got him at 6weeks and by 12 weeks he was 2pounds.... but now he is 4 and only weighs a little over 2.5/2.75 pounds. I guess there is no way to really tell..... she has gained 2 pounds in the last month though which kinda freaks me out cause I wanted them to be around the same size.... :animal36 |
The typical "rule of thumb" which works most of the time is to double the 12 week weight and maybe add one. Jackson followed this to a tee. At 12 weeks, he was 6 pounds, now he is 12.5lbs at 1 year old. You will find that size doesn't really matter, Jackson's two best doggie friends are two 4 lb yorkies. |
Kiki was 3lbs at 14 weeks , going by the charts she was supposed to be 6lbs even my vet said she would be around 6lbs . At 6 mths she weighed 4.5 lbs and she is now 10.5 mths she still weighs 4.5 lbs . As far as height she has only grew 2in since she was 14 weeks. She is very small boned but both of her parents were small too. Her mother was 5lbs and father 2.5 lbs. I hope this helps some. |
My Chipper followed the rule, too......double and add 1 lb. |
Go under the search next to new post and type yorkie growth chart, maybe that will help. my toots weighed 1 pd 5 oz at 12 weeks she is 1 1/2 yrs and weighs 4 1/2 pds. Growth chart not always accurate but sometimes within a pd or 2 either way. |
