No jump...yorkie??? Hi all, quick question.....my Zhoie is 9 mos and doesn't jump, is this odd? She is my 1st yorkie, so I'm not sure of alot of things. |
both of my babies jump. Rebel is 3 1/2 months old and jumps but is leary, we don't really put him on the furniture but a few times we have and he will jump off and will jump off the step as well. Miracle (his mommy) is 4 and she jumps. Is it that your baby does not jump at all??? Even if you hold a treat up? |
Is she small> If so that could be why. Anyway I think it is a good thing. It will keep her from getting LP. I wish mine didnt jump |
She is 4.1 lbs. She goes up/down steps, plays and runs like a wild girl, but doesn't jump. She is a very laid back kinda girl, easy going, doesn't bark much...just an all around good little girlie. I guess we have always put her on/off couch with us, so she never had a need to jump, haha. I do worry of leg injury, so yes, it may be a good thing. Thanks for the reassurance. |
Rily isn't much of a jumper either. He is 6 1/2 months old and he still hasn't gone down the stairs. We have to pick him up on the couch or bed. He will jump off them though. My daughters yorkie was jumping all over the place at 6 mo. :p |
Not a Jumper Either Out of my five, Rita who is 6 years old, is the only one that does not jump at all, even if you hold a treat above her head. We put her on the couch, she will stay there until we put her down. If she decides she wants down, she will run back & forth across the couch until we put her down. Rita does not use the steps to the bed either. She is average size & weighs 6 lbs.:) |
Sadie is about 4 1/2 pounds and 14 months old. She doesn't jump on or off of furniture. She goes up and down the carpeted stairs (or brick outside) but won't go up or down our hardwood stairs. She's really funny about having solid footing if she's going to jump. |
Sadie sounds just like my Zhoie. Thank you for the imput, I feel so much better, realizing nothing is wrong. |

me too. Miracle had surgery on her left hip before she was rehomed to us and Rebel has stage 1 lp and I can't get either one of them to stop jumping and the daschaund is not suppose to jump because of his back and he is getting older but NONE of them listen to me. |
I think your lucky if she doesn't jump. Sophie is a real daredevil and loves to jump which makes me worry...worry...worry. Jackie &:littleangSophie :aimeeyork |
Wow!!!! I met another Yorkie this weekend that didn't jump, but I just thought it was because she was young (4 months?) My Sophie is such a jumper, it worries me sometimes when she jumps from the furniture to the hard floor because she's so tiny and fragile!!!! |
Skeeter doesn't jump up but he will jump down and no matter how far it is he looks like one of those dogs diving off of the pier in a distance jumping competition. He is a little fatty which may be part of the reason he doesn't choose to jump up on anything but he has never liked it. He CAN he just won't. I put him in a clothes basket the other day just to see how long it would take him to get out of it. He moaned and groaned for a good 5 minutes before he decided I wasn't going to rescue him. LOL Adie and Gracie are the acrobats in the family. |
You are so lucky! Prince is 9 months and stays in mid-flight all day long. He doesn't believe in walking; he's either running like the house is on fire or jumping like a trampoline is always under him. He doesn't jump on furniture though . . . odd? |
My Nicky is 10 months old and he LOVES to jump up on things, He doesn't just jump down off things, he dives. I call it jumping with style. He also has doggie steps that he uses too. |
