Is 11 weeks old a good time to pick up puppy?
 
Hi there. Chole is now 9 weeks old but I am waiting until she is 11 weeks old to bring her home. The breeder said she is ready anytime but is leaving up to me. He never lets any of his dogs go before 8 weeks and that is only dependent upon how they are progressing. so am I smart to wait to 11 wks?

That is fine but 12 weeks are better.

10 weeks is the time you have to watch out for
12 weeks is the time most people say
but 11 weeks is fine

that should be fine as long as she isn't super tiny. do you know how much she weighs right now?

The longer they stay with their moms ... the less work you will have to do in the long run.:D

Mom teaches them manners and who to respect...She helps with toliet training also.:cool:

Don't pay so much attention to the age....pay attention to her weight. I would hesitate to bring home any puppy who weighed less than 2 pounds.

Apple was 11 1/2 weeks old and 2 lbs. on the button...As anxious as you are, I'd wait 'till she was 11 or 12 weeks old, because of all the reasons you've already read...She is soooooooo cute...Congrats congrats congrats :D

Thanks so much for all of your replies. I can't wait to get her home. I just hope by 6 year old Cody will be as excited as I am. I have learned more from reading these boards than ever could learn by reading a book. I look at this site everyday. I will keep everyone posted. I will be bringing Chloe home on November 7th. I will take the next week off from work for "peternity leave"

As a breeder I highly recommend 12 weeks, if under 2 pounds maybe longer. It is best to wait until the 2nd innoculation is given and the pup is eating well on its own.

she is so cute.... It's hard to resist her isn't it. I brought my Razzle home at 11 weeks old. We did fine. But he's my first Yorkie (not my last one thougH)

I do think the weight criteria is a good one.

Yeah, I like that too. :yelrotflm I think I will try that next week and stay home with my new furbaby girl!:D
