Cure for the puppy blues? My little girl loves the sun, hates cold and rainy days  I've notice that she sulks all day when it's raining and/or cloudy and she can't sunbathe. She keeps going to the door and when I open to let her out, she looks at me sooo sad and goes back to sulking. It would brake your heart seeing her walk so slowly, head down, droopy eyes and throwing herself on the floor in deep depression. I can swear that she and her brother think that I can make it stop raining and bring the sun up again  They look at me as if it's my fault or as if wondering why I don't fix it. Do any of your babies get the blues in nasty weather? What do you do to help them feel better? |
Mine don't mind getting out in the rain to potty even though I have pee pads down on rainy days. I wish they "would" use the pads so I wouldn't have to blow dry them when they get wet. Do you have a covered patio? If not maybe you could make some sort of shelter for them to potty under. |
How nice of a person you must be........saying "how can I make my Yorkies feel better when it rains?" That is the sweetest thing ever. We all feel the same sense of responsibility for their happiness. So funny. Like it's our job to keep them "jollied up" 24/7 Good grief, surely no other breed wraps people around their pinkie like these little elfves. But it sure is fun! |
Awww, poor babies. Wish I could fix it for them. Roxy doesn't like missing her sunbaths either, but it doesn't affect her that badly. If it's a light misty rain, she'll go out & play. Heavier than that, she'll go out long enough to potty & right back in. She does miss copping some rays. |
My baby is the same way but shes two now so she is sorta getting a little better but I try to give her a fresh bone of some sort to keep her busy and play with her a little more then normal but I swear Callie throws a little fit some times and does a sigh that would make you think your dealing with a teenage girl lol she has got the attitude down :) |
Sounds like she's made of sugar and is afraid to melt! |
Take her to petsmart or petco for a long walk thru the store! And buy her a new toy!!! |
Sorry, don't know how to multi-quote, but... RoxyLuv- My boy, Nicky, likes to play too if light rain. He's a boy and don't mind getting dirty. Nini, my girl, just watches him from inside and goes out ONLY if she has to go potty badly (could take hours and hours for her to find it absolutely having to go ) Lovetodream88- Nini sighs too--a lot! Like a teenager dissatisfied with evreything :2omg: I'll try the bone and extra play time. Thanks for the idea. Blade- ...Or afraid of the rain giving her a 'bad hair day.' hahahaha, funny :D kjc- Yeah, that will work too. She likes Petsmart, especially the treats isle. We had a couple of nice days and we went out to say "fair well, good-bye, chao, hasta la vista" nice days. There was a Halloween party at Petsmart on Tuesday and I thought Nini and Nicky would enjoy it, so we went. Big flop! :( I'll do a new threat for that one. |

No covered patio Quote:
Just umbrellas that will have to come down soon because of the high winds and before snow. Since rain falls sideways most of the time, I think, the little ones still get wet. Last winter I beg them to potty in the pee pads inside the garage, they didn't want to. I'll have to figure something out this winter :icon5: They hate the blow-drier, so I have to chase them around with a baby blanket to dry them out. They think it's a game and run away from me all over the house :p |
Ahaha. My girls hate the rain!!! Gypsy's favourite thing to do is hang out on the deck and sun bathe. But when it is raining, she wait by the patio door anxiously. When I go over and open the door to let her out she gives me this evil look as if to say "you vile woman! How dare you expect me to go outside in that!!" And when I MAKE them go outside and pee in the rain, Gypsy squints her eyes and acts as if she is being abused! |
OMG, Maxi HATES the rain. He refuses to go out in it lol. We usually turn the lights on and the tv and then play with him. And if that doesnt work, we will take him to my parent's apt (downstairs from ours). Since its the basement you cant tell its raining so he doesnt seem to notice and likes it. |
In a human, what you are describing would be called SAD: Seasonal Affective Disorder. Maybe she'd like a sunlamp to give her a warm spot to laze around in? Here's a link for humans; some of them may work for her, too: How to Treat Seasonal Affective Disorder Without a Sun Lamp - Associated Content - associatedcontent.com I live in Florida ... it's not something we have to deal with (many OTHER things, but not SAD!). But when it's rainy and the dogs don't want to go out, a nice 10 minutes or so of "fetch" always seems to fit the bill ... |
I get those too Quote:

Oh, my Quote:
It was the opposite when we were in Florida, sometimes it got too hot for her and she would look for the shade and cool tiles :D But I think she prefers it to the rain and cold. Hopefully it won't be too long :) we're planning on moving to Florida in a couple of years...come to think of it, a couple of years is a long time :aimeeyork in puppy years! |
