Tipping the groomer....how much??? So I was just wondering how much do you guys usually tip the groomer...because I am not really sure if I have been over-tipping, or not tipping well??...Maximus' grooming costs 45.00 and I usually tip about 3 or 4 dollars....does that sound about right?? how about you guys??? |
Well, it depends on what needs doing. Just a sanitary trim and nails for all 3 dogs, I tip 10.00, if it is a full groom, I tip 10.00 per dog. My groomer (who I finally found!!) doesn't use a slicker brush and hand dries. |
Princess is the only one who has a groomer, as our Chihuahua & Rottie get their nails done at the vet & the kids give them a bath. Princess get's the top dog when she goes, I give the girl $10.00. She's really great! I'm glad we found her. She has yorkies too! :aimeeyork |
Ooooppps....lol, I have really been undertipping...lol, I wasn't sure and I figured since the cut was 45.00...lol, now I feel bad...lol |
do ya'll tip a groomer like (Petsmart)? lordy, if so, I have been awful...........with no tipping. oh me |
I haven't tip either! I never even considered doing it. Is it proper etiquette, like one would do with their hairstylist? Do you think it's expected? Unlike a hairstylist, the groomers are not renting a chair or giving back to the owner a % of their in-take. So it does not seem to apply. (I could just be a cheapskate! ) |
I tip 20% for everything - my hair stylist, nail tech, cabbie, Stewie grooming, airport luggage guys, etc. forgot to add - 20% also for waitresses even if they're not so good. |
ok so when i took Chicle to his first grooming it was free b/c it came with his puppy class . and i tipped her $20 bucks. two girls did his grooming so 10 bucks each.. i think grooming is like any other service provided that should be tipped.. JMO .. but your amount should depend on ur satifcation on the result product... After picking Chicle up from the groomers i was in shock b/c i didnt really like the cut .. but since it was free i didnt want to seem cheap (so to say)... and i paid what i paid.. but good thing i did b/c next day i liked the cut and i wouldve felt like an ass for not tipping then.... |
I tip $10 for each dog when they get groomed. It costs me $50 for each and the same person grooms them both so I tip her $20!!! BUt that is also becuase I'm always happy with her, if I wasn't the tip would not be as much!! |
tipping The groomers in shops have to split with the shop owner in all I know..Petsmart 50% goes to the store..my friend who grooms in Md gets 75% and the vets groomer said she gets 75%.. As a retired groomer, my best tippers were hairdressers and waitresses. So many people are so unhappy with the way their Yorkies are clipped..I think I would tip a good groomer well..and by them a Christmas present! I was watching the groomer at Petsmart yesterday..she shaved the face/neck/ears of a Yorkie and left only a puff on the top like a Crested Hairless, no hair on the body either. I would have held her down and shaved her hair off if she did that to one of mine. I asked the manager what type of experince the groomers needed and they said they get a two week grooming class...I must be a slow learner, it took me two weeks to figure out the proper use of a clipper guards. |
Bella's grooming is about $35 and I always give the groomer a $5.00 tip. He's great. |

Yeah Kristy for tipping 20% to waiters! Woohoo!...( I wish all my customers were you!) Francie :) |
Jeez, I'm glad I live in the south! I pay $15 per dog for a FULL groom and she does a wonderful job. Let's me come at the end of the day on Fridays and sit there and wait on them.... |
I was going to mention that too, I am only charged $15.00 for Millie's grooming fee. I do have to leave her though. Now I feel bad that I have never tipped. It just never occurred to me. I am not sure if it's expected either. I am going to check around here and see what everyone says. |
