But now this. He's a mommy's boy and only wants me home with him. I've been leaving for 5yrs and he is getting worse instead of better. Strange I think. |

That's what I was thinking but the only thing different was the one bedroom door, which is our tv room, was closed because I just had the room re-painted on THurs and shampooed the rug Sun morn. Didn't want Bud walking on a wet rug. This is our life. I never know what he going to throw at me from one day to the next. Months go by uneventfull then whammy. This time was really bad because of the breathing scared the life out of me. |
I say get him a sister. Then he won't feel alone when your gone. |

Have you ever tried the Bach Rescue Remedy? I have never used it but I would be curious to know if it works. I want to order some and have it on hand. A couple of my babies get terrified during thunderstorms. Here is a website that talks about it: Rescue Remedy |

Beth, I bought that plug in when Buddy was a puppy. Sorry to say I don't think it helped any. That was one of the devises I did buy. Thanks Beth, |

Thank you so much. I saved this site and will read about it later. That might be just what we need. It say's it can be used daily so this is looking good. |
WOW, that is one little stressed out Baby, I'm so sorry to hear you are going through this. I know he's 5, but maybe you need to start all over at the begining again, like crate training, esp since he is getting hurt. Many many moons ago, my precious Tea'la was hurt when I came home from work, apparently she was playing with her toy and smacked her little head THROUGH a wall.. Needless to say she spent a week in intensive care and the vet chewed me out big time, all I could do is ball as I held her in my arms. Well, she was my miracle baby and made it with no side effects, PRAISE THE LORD!!! They are so small and our homes are so big to them, all it would take is jumping off the couch wrong and snap! YIKES!!! They actually feel more secure in their crates and I know for a fact that when I walk in the door my babies will be safe and secure. I don't know if this will work for you and your situation, all I know is it works for me. Best wishes with Buddy! |
I was going to suggest Bach's as well. I do a lot of rescue work and when we raid a mill or go into a hoarders environment we usually bring a batch of Bach's rescue remedy with us, it helps soothe these animals. I use it on Hamish, who has thunderstorm/fireworks issues....but sometimes (like 4th of july) when its just TOO much, I have some sedatives for him. We only use tem occasionally, but it seems to break the cycle. My suggestion would be to try the Bach's first. Then, escalate if you have to, because maybe after a few calm days he will have that "cycle" of dependency broken and you can wean him off it. good luck! its awful when they can't tell you what's bothering them! |

Thank you for your suggestions. Buddy is 16lbs and we have not used a crate since he was 6mos old. I don't think that will work for us. He didn't like it then so once he was trained at six months, he had free run of the house. I will, however, give him less room by keeping the two bedroom doors closed. I can't wait to get home tonight. |
oh nooo! carol im so sorry, i feel so bad for buddy , and you of course. the poor fellow. i hope he is ok tonight when you get home.. Lexi knows the routine during the week, she knows i leave, but when i get home, she goes nuts on me.. she starts choking and going crazy. and on the weekends, i could leave for a hour and come back and she goes nuts, choking again.. i wish i had an answer for you. i hope is all works out . hugs and kisses buddy boy. |

Carol, I'm sorry. I wish I knew of something that would help, but my best advice is to get him a playmate. Sending you and Buddy big hugs. |
