Ban gas chambers in the u.s.! http://www.thepetitionsite.com/2/ban...bers-in-the-us Sign the petition signature goal: 10,000 They onle have 182 signatures so far. BAN GAS CHAMBERS IN THE U.S.!Target:Animal Rescues, Animal Shelters, Animal Lovers.Sponsored by: Thunder's Angels Dog Rescue. What is gas chamber euthanasia? Euthanasia is supposed to translate to painless death but dying in a gas chamber is anything but that. Gas chambers are made of cinderblocks or metal. Inside these chambers, animals are slowly asphyxiated by poisonous carbon monoxide until they finally succumb to death. The process isn't pretty it typically includes gagging, gasping for breath, vomiting, defecating, fighting/biting other animals, animals beating their heads against the chamber walls and clawing the sides of the chamber to escape. Does the gas chamber effectively kill the animals inside of it? Some states have laws which mandate that puppies, sick, injured, or older animals are to be spared from the gas chamber since these animals have impaired or underdeveloped lungs and it takes longer for them to die this way, which prolongs their suffering. However, most shelters gas these animals anyway... Many animals survive the first round of gassing, only to be put back in with the second group of animals to repeat the process. Some shelter personnel have admitted to breaking kittens' and puppies' necks with shovels or drowning animals in buckets of water when they would not die from the gassing. Undercover footage has also shown animals being thrown against walls and beaten.. If the gas chamber is cruel to animals and unsafe for people too--shouldn't it be illegal? We think so! What they're doing to our animals is the same as what Hitler did to people during the Holocaust. Even convicted rapists and murderers who are put to death are granted a painless lethal injection, not tortured in a gas chamber. Sadly, there is no legislation prohibiting our pets from being gassed in most states..some of the states that still allow gassing are New York, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia, Nebraska, and Michigan. Of all of the United States, there are only 14 with legislative restrictions regarding the gassing of our companion animals. You can see a list of the states and their specific restrictions here: More States Taking on Gas Chambers | Animal Law Coalition In North Carolina alone there are 32 shelters that still utilize gas chambers as their primary euthanasia method. If you want to feel sick to your stomach, you can view this document: http://www.epi.state.nc.us/epi/vet/p...07dogscats.pdf which shows the number of animals euthanized in the state during 2007 (2008 statistics are not yet available). They don't show a "grand total" on that list but we added it up by hand and it comes to...... 218,350 animals. That's 218,350 animals that were killed simply because they were homeless....and North Carolina is just one state.... http://www.thepetitionsite.com/2/ban...bers-in-the-us |
3 Attachment(s) Also, check out this link from OHIO SPCA for photos of a few of the pounds in OHIO still using the unacceptable method of killing dogs with carbon monoxide machines http://www.ohiospca.org/hb104.htm Ohio Shelters Sadly I have seen this with my own eyes. dead dogs piled up on one another chest high. I have friends 2 that work around this every day. |
Great thread, thanks for doing this! 183 signatures now! |
184! Come on YTers!!! We need more signatures! Barley came from a "high kill shelter in the south" (I was told) and it breaks my heart to know how close he came to being put into something like that. Or if he seen others going into it. my poor baby boy I so wish he could talk! We need your support with this petition!!! |
I hope to have some updated articals and a list of petitions sites soon. waiting on a friend whos a GameWarden and the lady from the shelter in my area to email me back. Theres a lot of members here and just maybe we can all put a stop to this if even just a few. |
I am glad you posted this but from everything I have ever read these petitions won't change the laws unless the people of these states demand changes be made and are willing to pay more in taxes. I think petitions make political people look for about 1/2 a minute but they move on. These states need people protesting and carrying signs, they need to make changes in each city and the public needs to be aware how these animals are dying..it needs to be put in their face because they don't want to know because you have to ask for more taxes. Many of these states just don't have the $$$ or no one is holding them accountable. A hugh letter writing campaign can be started but from people that don't live in the state they will be thrown away...the political world doesn't care unless it gets them revoted every year. I don't know how many laws I have seen shot down because one group has a bigger lobby to stop laws that can save animals. I have seen it here on YT when it comes to breeding...It is everyone's rights...but who pays the price. |
My Bad I wanted to have the site to sign petition for BAN GAS CHAMBERS IN THE U.S at the top of my first post in this thread and not at the bottom. I know some dont have the time to read the whole post but want to sign the petition. so maybe mod or admin can put this link at the top of the first post. Thanks. http://www.thepetitionsite.com/2/ban...bers-in-the-us |

I signed. For some reason the link at of the end of the first post worked, but the link in post #7 did not. |
There are MANY groups in these states who are trying to stop it! This is nothing new at all. All you have to do is google "gas chamber dogs" and you will find TONS of information. |
