Furbaby Clothing Questions For those of you who dress your furbabies: Do you do so everyday? Do you put jammies on them at night? Or do you let them run 'naked' in the house, but dress them only when you go somewhere? Do byou let them outside 'naked' or make sure they have something, even a t-shirt on outside? |
dressing furbabies Wow, you make us sound like furbaby fanatics! Just kidding, by the way I see that you are also from Minnesota. Belle doesn't have real thick hair and I tend to put a t-shirt on her in the fall and a sweater in the winter. She is pee pad trained so she doesn't go potty outside unless we go for a walk. I just purchased a warm coat for walks and car rides. Most of the time she just runs "naked" (I love that) I am going to get her some jammies as we like our bedroom cool at night and Belle sleeps in her crate beside our bed. I also discovered that the inside walls of her crate (plastic) are cold when you feel them. I bought some fleece and lined the bottom half of the crate with it bringing it up to where the top attaches and cut out around the snaps. She likes to snuggle against it now. Hey, Minnesota...what happened to fall? |
We're out and about a lot--in the cooler weather, we put clothes on our girl--or she shakes! In the summer, we dress her for fun...around home..she's naked! unless it's cold, then a sweatshirt! I would love some pj's, but, we don't have any! |
I don't dress Twinkle and Wicket everyday so they spend most of their time naked.....they wear a sweater or coat if its cold outside, and maybe a little outfit if we are going somewhere special. They don't wear jammies at night....Wicket in particular has a tendency to chew on his clothes if not supervised and I think I would come down in the morning to discover that he has eaten them! :Dxxx |
Teddy is always naked, in the UK we don't have such great clothes as you, I am going to get him some, now he has a heart condition, don't want him to get cold and get sick. He has a thick coat and never shows signs of cold, and I always check. I would love some Jammies, for him. I saw some really cute ones on YT the other day. Take a look at some other posts you will see you can get some great things where you live. |
5 of mine go nakid all the time. One, Suki wears clothes all the time as she suffers from alergies and scratches. The other, Dakota is shaved down so he also wears clothes all the time. Mine dont seem to like pj's or anything with four legs. So mostly comfty tshirts/dresses. And yes they change daily |
Mine only wear clothes on special occasions |
My boys only wear shirts and sweaters in the winter. They like to be naked in the spring and summer and in the house. Friday on the other hand loves clothes. When i was showing her she didn't get to wear clothes unless we went to meetups and then only for a little while. But since she got shaved down she has been wearing sweaters and shirts daily. I take them off for a few hours to brush her but then she gets a clean shirt. |
Mine are naked during the day. Tia won't stay covered at night so she has jammies. Her legs tend to come out of her jammas with the 4 legs, so we use the sleeve of a childs sweatshirt. Taz wears a shirt when we have bad weather. The others, only when its cold outside (not often in Louisiana):p |
Naked in the summer. I buy different colored harnesses with matching leashes to be cute! In cold weather, we have sweatshirts and fleece wraps I make because they are snuggly warm. Daisy wears a T shirt or hoodie sweatshirt to bed at night. I made her some fleece PJs, but she doesn't like her back legs covered--she likes to have her furbutt out! We have some cute dresses and they are for special occasions or when going out. She can't do her tricks when she has clothes on. She tries to roll over, but can't seem to throw herself down--it's funny to watch her try! |
I'm from MN as well and Morgan is already always shivering. And it's only October! I bought him a super cute sweat shirt and a fuzzy warm coat. This will be his first winter, so I have to see about bundling him up. Walker has a Fido Fleece that he wears in the car when it's really cold outside. Whenever we have snow and it's freezing cold outside, I always either bring clothes for the dogs or dress them up before leaving. It's just like bringing extra clothes for myself. We live in the country and if I get stuck with the car, I'd rather be prepared. I never dress them up inside the house though and no jammies either. |
When its warm or hot outside Callie is rarely dressed unless its when its dark out and shes shaking because shes cold but when its cold like it is getting now shes pretty much always dressed. Callie wears nightgowns at night because I have a ceiling fan in my room and it gets cold in my room at night. Callie will let me know if she doesn't want to be dressed like when she wants to be dressed I hold the piece of clothing out and she puts her head through the head hole and then lifts her left leg into the air and puts in through the sleeve if you hold the sleeve out and then does the same with the right leg but if she doesn't want clothes on she will lift both her front legs up and kinda shew me away lol. Also if I buy her a new piece on clothing or some comes in the mail I hold it up and show her and she sniffs every inch checking it out. |
Bailey goes with me where ever I go, and it's getting really cold here now so I put a coat on him, soon he will have to wear a sweater and a coat for extra warmth in the colder months. At home I give him a break from the clothing most days! :) |
Cooper wears a red, white, and blue jersey to my daughter's soccer games. (Her school colors) He is like their mascot. All the girls love him!! This is his first fall and winter so I am on the lookout for sweaters and coats. We live in Indiana and winters can be mild or severe. We just never know until it happens. :p |
Sophie does not like to be too warm. So she is not dressed in the summer. I will put on a sweater in the winter if the house is cool, but if it is 68 or warmer, than, no, she is fine. She will start panting easily. We went for Christmas to Minneapolis one year to visit my daughter, and Sophie wore her hoodie the entire time. :D She was so cold. We are going there after Thanksgiving, and I plan to take along some of her clothes and maybe buy a Vikings shirt.:) |
A sweater if it's cold outside. Sometimes a onsie in the house if I can tell she's cold. This is our first winter together so I will see how cold she gets. :) I get a bit of heck when I dress my dogs up lol |

Sometimes I dress Joey for warmth, and sometimes I dress him for my pleasure. He has a few sport themed shirts for daddy's pleasure, and daddy even dresses him on special game days. I think his natural coat is by far his most beautiful outfit. Joey's like a living doll, and I don't have to worry about him having a warped viewpoint, as he grows older, like I would a human child. So just enjoy, but remember they do get chilled, and sometimes it is a necessity. |
Yogi is wearing a sweater right now. It's 46 degrees outside and it's cool inside the house. My general rule is if I'm freezing and need to put on extra layers, then I'll put an extra layer on him. |
Missy is always dressed in the cooler months. In the summer, she's nekkid! |
Laya is usually always dressed unless it's really hot. She gets cold easily and she is just used to being dressed since she was 8 weeks old. |
sophie is naked only half the time :D |
Cooper hates Pajama's and they are sooo darn cute I wish he would wear them, they are the only clothing that bothers him. He sleeps with us at night and burrows under his own blanky....but every morning as soon as he wakes up he gets a new shirt on....summer is short sleaves, and winter is usually hoodie or sweater. He potty's out side and I think it just keeps him cleaner not getting itchy grass on his fur/belly etc. And he does not mind them at all. It is actually funny in our house if either of our kids seem him with out his shirt they will be like naked baby alert....he looks so different to us when he is naked.lol since we see him dressed every day. |
Naked in the summer and the warm months of spring and fall. They'll wear a t-shirt or sweatshirt or jacket (outside) depending how cold it is during the end of fall and winter. It's so funny giving them a bath in the winter because when I take their clothes and harnesses off, they really do look naked:D |
I don't ALWAYS leave Luna in clothes. She is hypoglycemic though and my doctor did say she would get the shivers pretty easy, so she has a little short sleeved thermal I leave on her, If we go outside or if we have company I put on her pretty sweater and at night I have just a plain white T to keep her warm. But she is "naked" most of her time and just wrapped in a blanket on my lap. It is fun to dress them though =D |
They all have sweaters for the winter. |
Well...lol....I will confess, I thought I would NEVER be a person to buy clothes for my dog.....that was until I fell in love with my lil Shay...I started with one lil navy t-shirt.. xxs and says "security"....well do I have to say more??? OMG so darn cute!!!! So, now we have 3 sweaters a few t-shirts and just added pj's...the pj's are just soooooo soooooooo adorable! (just posted picture in pj's)..lol.. Now I will tell ppl, oh.. he only wears clothes cause he is so tiny he gets cold....and that can be true, but truth be told, he is so cute in them, I can't stand it..lol..now which winter coat do I get?! hahaahahhaha... |
Mine usually ALWAYS have clothes on... ok well like 90% of the time. On bath days, I usually let them run naked but that is once every couple of weeks. Other than that they will at least have a tshirt on (which they honestly LOVE getting dressed - its hilarious and no one believes unless they saw it!). And they definitely don't leave the house w/o clothes! No indecent exposure here!:p |
Lol you lot make me smile, you all sound like me ! What is it with these fur babies that makes us feel so in love ? I love daisy so much it aches !!! wish we had the selection of clothes you have on this island ! xxx :p |
I'll put Gordon in a sweater before I walk him when it's really cold outside, and sometimes (to avoid fighting with him again) I'll leave it on cause I know we're going outside again in the near future. He's a feisty puppy, so putting clothes on him is no easy task. I'm sure he'll get used to it eventually though... I hope. |
