I have a question... That I thought I would ask you all about... I have been thinking and thinking how cool it would be to have Nicky be one of those dogs that goes from nursing homes and visits sick people. He would be GREAT for that. Who doesn't like a little fella. Isn't there some training that he and I need to go through before we do this? I can't think if what it is called. UGH... Thanks for your help and suggestions!! :thumbs up :yorkiesar |
There are programs that he can go through. He would have to pass some sort of test. Call your local animal shelter, they might be able to help you. Good luck |
Yes He would have to pass a CGC test AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Program and there are other steps and certs you might need.. I would try to google that cgc test or look at that website to see what you have where you live.. I know that some places have a little traning course before you take your dog to take the cgc.. Good luck |
Thanks I will look into it!! Hugs Angie |

I think your talking about a therapy dog. I think its a great idea. :D |
I have taken up my litters of puppies once they reach a certain age. Usually at nursing homes the residents are gathered at certain "holding" areas. You don't need a special program to share the love... guaranteed ~ no one can resist a Yorkie... or any pup for that matter. Its kind of the same with babies. Taking a baby in brings such delight to the seniors! |
Twinkle and Wicket are doing their Canine good citizen awards....they've recently got their silver and are now going to be doing gold. It's been a really rewarding experience and I would definitely recommend it. I wish you lots of luck :) xxx |
