Fuzzball has Waves! Hi...Fuzzball is doing great..he weighs six lbs now and is 3.5 months old. My questions are: he has thick wavy fur..it's semi fluffy too..kind of reminds me of a Bichon pup wave....have never seen this in a Yorkie baby before..does that straighten out with age? If not that's ok I just think it's neat. Also he has floppy ears..Yes he's going to be a large boy..I'm guessing about 12.13 lbs...what do you think...will those stand or not? I've had peope think he's an airdale cross..no. Just curious...i'll try to send pictures if I can get the camera to work. Thanks. |
1 Attachment(s) I'd have to see a pic but Yorkies come in all different varieties! Jackson's got kind of wavy ish hair, too. He's far from a "standard" Yorkie weighing in at 12.5lbs! |
Be sure to check out the Yorkie Coats, Colors, and Puppy Growth Chart Thread. It has a fairly detailed explanation; I had to read slowwwwwly! I have these same questions and started a thread recently where people posted pics of their dogs and described the texture of their coats. The consensus was pretty much that bloodlines have a lot to do with, well, everything......and that both the look and feel of a coat are important in determining if the coat is silky, cottony, etc. (P.S. Fuzzball is a great name!) |
Uni's butt fur is a little wavy, we call her curly butt sometimes. :D We also have a customer who's yorkie Razzy is wavy all over her body, just not her face and legs. When she goes to the groomers they flat iron her! LOL I think it's cute! |
Will check out the link to "coats." How do you groom it without breaking it? I'm used to silky fur. I don't want to use a slicker as it is still breakable and I don't want to wreck it. Part of being a fuzzball is of course your fuzzy coat! Thanks. |
Make sure to use a good grooming spray. I am using a comb with the rotating teeth and it seems to help with less breakage. I like it. I haven't tried the wooden brushes yet, but I want to, but they're expensive. :( |
