WOW! what a great community & website Hello everyone. My name is Sherry; I live in Florida & I'm new to YorkieTalk ...as a member anyhow; been "lurking" for awhile :) Although I don't have a darling yet I am hoping to get one this weekend. YEAAAAA I'm looking forward to this in the biggest way since I'm mom to 2 grown kids & the mom instinct in me is still hanging on; no grands so I'll have LOTS of time to share with my new baby. Again, I want to thank everyone who's posted all this wonderful info about this awesome breed. Take care |
Welcome!!!! I hope you find your perfect little baby! I am sure you will be soo very happy. I have been a member for almost a year and this is the best site ever! Anything you need we can try to help. Good Luck;) |

Welcome to Yorkietalk, and it sounds like you will be a great Yorkie mom. So many people buy them because they look so cute in a purse, but in reality they take almost as much time as a newborn baby! That can be really rewarding to some, and frustrating to others. Congrats on your new little bundle. A tip that helped me was that I bought a bundle of 4 relieving blankets at Target, and had the breeder touch each one, and rub it on mama, and Joey slept with one blanket each night. If he peed on it, I could wash it, and put it back in the plastic bag with the other blankets where I hoped it would pick up momma's scent again. I don't know if it helped Joey, but it helped me! :D We had a small zippered crate that I kept next to my bed, and I could hear him easily at night and placed him on a pee pad, then back in his crate. The zipper allowed me to stick my hand in the crate, and that was enough to settle him down and get him back to sleep. |
How exciting! Welcome! We got our baby 8 years ago, and it has been the best thing we have ever done. Our kids are grown too, and our baby goes everywhere with us. She is the best companion, and my hubby is totally taken with her. I hope you enjoy your new family member, but you will hear from your real kids that they think you treat your furbaby better than you did them:D We didn't spoil our kids.:D |
Hi Sherry! Welcome to YT! Its a very nice place to be as we all share the same love:2hearts2: our Yorkies! You will love it here :) Quote:

Update- we picked up our darling Friday afternoon...none of us is happier than me! Tuffy is what we determined his name would be when we first saw him a month ago & it seems very true to his character. |

Perhaps some of you have noticed that I don’t post often. There’s a really good reason for it too. I retired from being an electronics tech about 3 years ago & joined my husband as a team driver. My husband, Sir Tuffy & me travel around the country in a big yellow semi truck delivering goods. Tuffy has proven to be an awesome little trucker dawgie. He’s been out on the road now a total of a month now & has only had 2 minor “accidents” which both happened the first week we were out. We stay out about 2-3 weeks but usually take a day off every week so that we can all relax in a hotel room. My lil guy is VERY attached to me & whenever we stop, if I get out to go in somewhere without him he looks out the lower passenger window & whines for me to return. He turned 6 months yesterday & had his 1st romp in the snow with Dad…he pawed at the snow & then stuck his whole head into a small snowbank; Dad said he came out looking like a little dawgie snowman! LOL So, I’m wondering if there are any other trucker pups here at YT. I’m also curious if anyone has any ideas on how to get the little rascals to keep their snowshoes on? |

Oh wow, your life sounds like it would be a great topic for a movie! Yorkies would be perfect for road travels, I haven't heard of any other members who are truckers, I think a few husbands are, but I don't know any other yorkie who rides a big rig. Give Sir Tuffy a big 10-4 from me! :D Lol, I have no idea what 10-4 means, but I think I remember it from the Burt Reynolds movies. :D |
