Aggressive Behavior
 
My youngest Yorkie has been attacking the other dogs. She usually directs it at the smallest of them and when she starts she just goes into a rage. She doesn't even hear you. You have to pull her off and separate her for a considerable time. Otherwise she is a loving, bright, georgous girl. Would getting her spayed help? Has anyone had similar problems?

yes, spaying might help especially if you have another female.

What is her age? How many other dogs? Are they all spayed/neutered except for her?

Bonnie just turned one. I have 4 other dogs all smaller than her. She is the only one who is not spayed.

I would spay her but I will tell you my females (I have 3) and 3 males and the females do fight a lot more than the boys. My little Bella is always biting someone in the butt and trying to be Queen. Hopefully if you get her spayed that will help but some dogs just do not like each other but mine get along but are very terrier.

The rest of my dogs only weigh 4-7 pounds (I have a very "plump" chi girl) and Bonnie weighs close to 10. I am worried one will get hurt badly. If the spaying does not work I will have to find another home for her. I think she is trying to be Alpha.

I honestly don't think that spaying will help at this point but it is certainly worth a try. Females that have not been spayed will sometimes get more aggressive right before and during a heat cycle. Once she is spayed you won't have to deal with the raging hormones but she may also be fighting just to show dominance. In the mean time, please keep her away from other females because she could very well seriously hurt them. Yorkies have been known to kill each other.

Thank you all for your info. I will be trying to find another home for her. It is such a shame as she is one of those super intelligent dogs that you see rarely. She is also oterwise super sweet and so eager to please.

Why don't you at least try and get her spayed first and see how she is after that. She really should be spayed no matter what for her health and so no one breeds her if you have to rehome her.

Yes, I throughly agree with this. There are many low cost and free spay neuter clinics. ASPCA | Free and Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Database
