How to know Whether my pup will have a 'rough' coat or the classic 'silky' coat? I had a look around the site and while I found a few threads on keeping the coat short, but I was wondering if there is any way to 'know' what type of coat the puppy will have? I don't mind too much but I'd like a yorkie with more of an rough coat, just to keep it shorter. But the silkies are just so...soft looking :p Sorry if this is a stupid question I'm still trying to educate myself on this beautiful breed. (Getting my puppy in December so I can be as well versed as all of you!) :) :aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork |
I think you tend to know right off what they have. Most pups with a cottony coat won't change into a silky or vice versa in my experience. How old is your pup? |
This is the website I like to use. It explains color and texture in great length. |
Hmmm, let me try posting that link a different way. Yorkie puppy coat color stages within the first two years of maturity - yorkie hair color |
Thank you so much for your replies! I'm actually getting my pup in early December, I have organized with a Rescue center to pick up a poor two month old Yorkie. I wanted to get as much information as possible before I bring puppy home, so puppy can be treated like canine royalty. Puppy has no name as of now. ;) |
