Why is he puking?? Our little guy is 12 weeks old. We was on Blue Buffalo Puppy, but has been itching so Saturday I got some Wellness Puppy. I mixed 75% Blue with 25% Wellness. He loves it. He is eating better. I thought everything was going well until yesterday afternoon he puked after he ate. He also had some leaves in it so I thought maybe it was the leaves. He puked again last night after he ate a few pieces of his food, but it again had leaves. He then finished eating and was fine. This morning he ate a few pieces of food and puked, this time with no leaves. He also had his second round of shots on Saturday, which he did fine on his first round so I didn't think he would have any problems this time. Do you think it's the food? The shots? I just don't know. He is very happy and is playing just fine. No mood changes or anything, so I just don't know! Thanks! |
Any help??? |
Dogs will eat anything, won't they? At our house we joke that the only thing a dog thinks about is "You gonna eat that? I could eat that? You gonna eat that?"!!! It sounds like a 'leaf' problem to me, because of the vomiting you described. If it were shots, I would think there would be an overall lethargic reaction. I once had a Golden Retriever who ate 2 dozen Easter eggs, whole, and vomited/pooped them for 2 days; her overall behavior was totally normal. (She also liked to break into our pantry and eat breakfast bars, wrapper and all.) It also occurred to me that your baby might be eating leaves, like cats eat grass, because her stomach is upset from the change in food? With cats, the grass just serves to induce vomiting...clearing the stomach from upset. I think careful watching will give you the answer eventually. I know you are worried; hang in there! |
It is probably either the food or leaves, but if he keeps puking, he needs to see the vet. He is a bit young to be switching foods. It just can cause so many problems at this age because a stomach upset from it can lead to serious problems. Is there a reason he can't eat BB for awhile? |

Does he have dry skin? What kind of shampoo are you using? |
He's too young for food allergies. Fleas, mites, dry skin? |
I use Magic Coat with oatmeal. No fleas. How do I know if it is mites? |

Usually with puppies and throwing up can be from something they ate and werent supposed to! I would call your vet! he may have a forgien body in his tummy! Good luck! |
puking help Ok.. well first and foremost I would bring him to the vet. yorkies are so small they can become dehydrated or have low blood sugar and become critical very quickly. I would pull his food. You can feed him nothing but a bland diet... which is boiled chicken and rice for like 3 days then slowly add regular food back in. However he may need medications to coat the stomach and fluids given by the vet... hope this helps! |
Thanks everyone! |
