Likes to eat walls....trying to escape?
 
A friend of mine has a Morkie. She is about 1.5 yrs old. For some reason she likes to chew through walls. Straight through the drywall. They got her
"fixed" acouple months ago hoping it would help. 2 wholes later... it didnt. Does anyone know what might cause this behavior? She i left home alone quite alot, not sure if she's rebeling?

I have had 3 different puppies chew holes in the dry wall, they always did it when I was gone and I do think it is do to being bored.

what kind of dry wall is it ...maybe i can feed it to my skin kids ...:D..on grocery day my fridge goes from full to empty in no time flat ...:eek:..thouse three can sure eat :D

Maybe it's a calcium deficiency? And boredom can have a lot to do with it, too. Give her something else to chew on and maybe keep her in a pen, safe from walls?

Definitely boredom. Maybe put her in a smaller area and give her lots and lots of toys if shes at home by herself a lot. Maybe a radio or tv for background noise.

OMG...Thank goodness other dogs do it too! Princess chewed on the drywall, we have several spots where she tried to make holes. I think it's severe separation anxiety...only happens when nobody is home. I know it's her bc it comes out in her #2 & it'll be all over her tiny mouth! Lol
So, we connected 2 xpens together & now whenever they're left alone, we put them all inside the xpen.

Maybe there is something in the walls she is trying to get too? Termites or other insects or heaven forbid, rodents of some sort.

Your post was probably for the op, but since my Princess does it too (eat drywall)...I don't think so (about the bugs & rodents eeew), then all my other 3 would try to dig & eat through the walls too.
I did mention this to my vet & she said it's behavioral issues, separation anxiety.

I'd agree. And increase exercise. And maybe try to teach her a few tricks to occupy her mind too.

I have read there is a condition known as Pica that can cause this. You can find it online easy.People can have it too.

There could be some other reason. Just throwing this out there:)

Sounds a little bit like it could be nervousness/separation anxiety. When I was younger, we had a dog that would nibble on the baseboard moulding whenever we left because she was chronically anxious. If there's certain spots they like, you can try spraying the area with bitter apple spray--that worked for us. I think you also got good suggestions about boredom, maybe try leaving a Kong with some Kibble or some more difficult to eat treat in it to keep them occupied for a while.

The best I can think of would be a large exercise pen or maybe having people watch it, could you volunteer to morkie watch sometimes?
