my puppy almost die Well, yesterday I took the dogs for a walk, they never wear collars inside the house but they wear them outside, as soon we are home again I take them off, yesterday we came home I took them of but I left chiki with his for a minute ( he uses a chain collar) I heard a noise and I saw him running weird to perritos bed and my 2 other dogs craying around him, I went to take a look and hi had his chain in his mouth!!! I don't know what happened, he was choking, I just pulled and thanks god I found the clip and took it off, he was just laying there pick him up gave him some water, and kept him with me, he is fine now, ( jumping eating playing) but is so scary this can happens in a minute .......I wanted to share because I think collars are dangerus, I don't want to think what would it happen if I was in the shower or notice a minute later |

Do you use the collar to walk them or do you have a harness? Thats another thing you should use a harness for walking and the collar just for the id and tags... Jmo :D |

Yea I hear ya... My sisters dog likes to play with grabbing dogs by the collar.. Only thing is my sisters dog is a golden lab... She is usually really gentle with my boys, but today I heard my Nicky let out a yelp and I hollerd at Leia (the dogs name) and she let go of him instantly... Well I looked at Nickys collar and it was looped funny... so I took the coller off of him scared the crap out of me!! but he is totaly fine!! Thank heavens... |
I think collars are very important to hold there id tags because even if the are trained not to go out the door what if they blow that off and run out the door and they take off and you are unable to find them? But as important as collars are it is also VERY important to size them properly. The only time Callie does not have her collar on is bath time. |

Jackson wears a collar 24/7 with ID tags. I think it's worth it if he were to get out. He is also microchipped. |

i love those collar btw. i would either tighten it a bit more or wait until the dog grows into one or get a smaller size. they shouldn't be loose enough for the dog to catch it's jaw in....Sadie's are way too big for her and she gets her mouth under and in them all the time so that's why we don't put them on her just the harness until she's bigger. |

I did have a horrible vision of a little yorkie with a great big choke chain collar on lol |
Oh how terrible  YIKES! Thank The Lord you're furbabie is alright now, what a frightening experience for such a lil one. I am so thankful that you were right there and were able to act quickly, don't even think about if you were out of the room, you were there and responded ever so quickly !!:bravo: I put a little kitten collar on GiGi with a little pink bell, I'm so used to white furbabies that I never knew where she was...LOL It's a collar she can get off on her own but she's pretty good about leaving it on (so far at least) Prais the Lord you all are safe and no one got hurt, just a very frightening experience I'm sure you will NEVER be able to forget |
Glad your puppy is ok! :D |
