Some people shouldn't own animals!! I am SO angry right now and thinking of what I can do!!!!!Me hubby and the girls are camping right now and I have NO cell service or I would make a call and report abuse!! My Mom was taking my granddaughter for a walk yesterday when she heard this horrible yelping and crying....when she came upon one of her NEIGHBORS smacking her TINY YORKIE!!! She was holding it up and just kept smacking her!!!! What the HE&& is wrong with people!!! My Mom just stopped, turned and stared at the woman (if that's what you want to call her!!) My Mom didn't move,,..when the WENCH looked up and saw my Mom stopped and staring she put the dog down and went inside....My Mom has a love for animals as we all do here....actually she takes better care of her little Callie then some people care for their children....However...my Mom HATES confrontation...this is why she didn't say anything...she just stood and stared....It's a DAMN good thing I wasn't there!!!! I don't have tolerance for that crap! I think I probably would have told her what a piece of SH$% she is and told her to give me her dog!! OMG!! I am SO ANGRY right now!!! I have reported neglect (pet store) to the MSPCA before and the pet store was eventually closed down (apparently I wasn't the only one that complained) But, I wonder if I called in a complaint about this what they could do where I wasn't the one that witnessed anything....They live in a very nice neighborhood and and a very nice house. I wonder if MSPCA would look at that and think I was nuts for reporting them...they have a pug also and let them out on their front porch which is gated so they can't run into the road. I hope to GOD that I never run into that BI#$H!!! I won't be able to keep my mouth shut!! |
Obviously, she has no tolerance for this poor defenseless pup. Maybe instead of flipping out on her, you might try to get to know her and see if you can intervene somehow. I know that is a difficult thing to do because I am with you...I would rather smack someone down for being abusive. The problem is that no one will do anything ... if she left the pup outside with no food or water you might have a chance of something being done. She sounds like someone who might eventually turn that pup into a shelter after she has totally destroyed it's spirit...I would do my best to get to know her and try to get the poor thing away from her nicely. If all else fails....put dark glasses on and drive a car with no license plates. :p And, I am not suggesting murder here. :p |
It would be upsetting for me to see that. So many people have the belief that if a dog misbehaving or has an accident in the house then they need to be spanked. I just don't believe that. Sadly, some people just don't know any better. |

I was thinking more along the lines of pet walking. :D:cool::p And...I am also j/k |
That is just horriable!! NO animal should be hit!! I am with you, I would have hollerd at the lady, "HEY STOP BEATING THAT POOR DEFENCELESS BABY" or "HEY LADY WHATS YOUR PROBLEM, WHY DON'T YOU PICK ON SOMEONE YOUR OWN SIZE!!" I hope that she does get reported and has any and ALL animals removed from her house. She doesn't deserve any animal, let alone such a loveing animal as a yorkie!! |
How good does the fence look??!;) Yorkies can dig under a fence pretty quick... for a nice bully stick or something... (jk) But seriously, I would report her, in that if the dog ever shows up at a vet... hurt... there would be something in writing, somewhere! |

So true! I have known people who believe this and I have argued the point that this is NOT the way to get them to behave. The thought makes me cringe and it's disgusting that there is so much ignorance when it comes to this problem. |
This is very heart breaking to hear, it does make us angry and whats worse. when we cant do anything to prevent it  I just had my daughter call on her neighbor, she called me just crying and carrying on about seeing her neighbor hitting there dog, Not a yorkie but does that really matter..NO ! she was affraid they would find out she called, I told her to make the call and not worry about that info, They still have not checked into that we know of :( |
Very sad and heart wrenching to see these types of things going on around us when we love our little ones so much. The vast majority of YT members have been drawn to this forum for one common connection~the love of our Yorkies. There have been many people that have come to this board out of desperation seeking advice for the simple fact that a Yorkie is like no other dog they have ever know. I would venture to guess this woman was frustrated and needs help with whatever is going on with this poor little guy. :( I am by no means saying that smacking any dog around is the proper way to correct or train because we all know that it is NOT! Reporting her will do no good because seeing someone slap or hit a dog once is not true abuse. :( If you were to knock on her door and tell her she was a moron you would get the door slammed in your face. I understand your frustration and outrage but truth be told unless you live right next door to this woman and were able to start a "friendship" with her filled with knowledge there pretty much is no other way to stop her behavior. It really stinks because if this poor little guy is having a housetraining or behavioral issue she is only making things worse by striking him to "train". It's a long shot but maybe you could take yours pups for a nice walk and try to run into her but this idea seems like a loooong shot. What you would like to do and what might work are polar opposites and really there is no good answer to this situation. :( I so hate when these types of stories come up. |
That is horrible. I'd say that poor things spirit is already broken. My stomach is just turning thinking of that poor thing receiving repeated abuse. Do something if you can to rescue that poor thing. |
This really upsets me. I would not have been able to hold my tongue. I think that people that do these type of things should have to experience what they are doing to the animals  |
When a dog does something "wrong" it forgets it almost immediately. That dog had no idea why she was being beaten. |
i'm with you, i'd be madder than a hornet and have gone up to her and plainly stated that i would be calling the cops on her....animal abuse is a crime ya know!! |
If you cannot find a way to "befriend" this woman in order to try to help this poor pup, maybe you could quietly put some rescue information on her door step? I was going to say mailbox, but that is against the law unless sent in the mail, which is another option. Simply send some information to her about training and also yorkie rescues! Just leave off a return address. If you are not comfortable doing that, PM me her address and I will do it. At least it is planting a seed. I will send her yorkie info along with rescue info |
This is all very very sad. However, all I've ever heard is that a dog forgets about what they have done within 10, 20 seconds. But I actually think they do know what they have done. Because sometimes I leave my 2 little ones in the house to roam while I leave and when I come back, if I see that they have gotten into things and made a mess or if one of them pottied where they shouldn't have, all I have to do is look at the mess (they run to me when I get home so they are watching my every move) and let out a gasp of disbelief and the one who didn't puts their head down and sneaks away to their crate. The one who didn't do it will stick with me in this happy go lucky way. Maybe my puppies just have this great memory, I don't know. But they do know when they've done something bad I just wish it would kick in before they do it! LOL! Ok sorry, way off the topic, but I had a response to an above comment. |
Wow. Thats horrible. I don't even believe that. Yes I would tottaly be friend her, I would even take it to the next level and go visit her at her home and do some like "PI" work. Even if you see her doing something you dont agree, act like it isnt a big deal so then you can get all the evidence to do something with it. If I knew for a fact that at home the yorkie was getting treated the same way it is at camp I would do something, I would do whatever he would take to get that poor yorkie out of that house. |

She sounds like someone who might eventually turn that pup into a shelter, maybe you can ask if her if you can buy the yorkie from her then. I have to say thats is sooooooo horrible,to hard for me to swallow this one! |

I agree, go for it or it will bother you for a long time. No dog should ever be treated like that one is. I have three and I have never spanked them once let alone beat them. If you weren't so far away, I'd be willing to be your accomplice. |
She is NOT my neighbor..she lives in my Moms neighborhood. I don't even know what she looks like. what I might do is send her a letter (if I can find her house#) I don't even know her name. What I think I will do when I get home (I am camping right now and won't be home until Monday) is send a letter telling her she was seen abusing her yorkie and I would be willing to take him/her if she wants to re-home. Apparently she doesn't care for the poor little thing if she could hit it like that...Yorkie are so small boned I would be worried that she broke a bone on the poor little thing...It just makes me sick to my stomach to think of what she did...."I" didn't see this happen.,...My Mom did and told me about it on my cell while we were on our way camping. BELIEVE me....if I had seen this happen I wouldn't have kept my mouth shut! |
