my name is German and i just registerd to this site eventhough i dont own a yorkie.

The good new is that im shopping for one, and i came across puppypetit.com or how ever you write it. Then i saw this site which has been my salvation because i was actualy thinking of buying from puppypetite.com i was thinking of going over there to check it out... but i rather not thanx to you guys and the first post that i read about Natalia

Im still looking around and i came across this page yorkshire terrier puppies for sale now i need help to determine if this is the real deal or not... and if its not a real deal can anyone please help me find a good and cheap breeder.

Im trying to get pure, 2.5 - 3lb female yorkie terrier (smaller if posible) Tan and blue for 1,000. I know that i might be asking for to much for just 1G but i cant get more money i wanna get this pup for my girlfriends B-Day which is November 4th

Have you and your gf read anything on the yorkie breed to make sure this breed will fit well with your gf? I would take your time when picking out a puppy and finding a breeder. It's not that easy, It's not like buying a pair of shoes, you cant just get the first one you see. You have to research research research!! Also why do you want a yorkie smaller than 2lbs?? I know yt has some really good breeders, you might want to check on here. I dont think any "good breeder" is cheap. You pay for what you get GOOD LUCK TO YOU.

Well why do i want to give her a yorkie??? first off we live together in a small one bedroom apartment so the yorkie fits in fine, second, my sister has a yorkie and i just love that dog they are full of energy and very playful, its like they dont know that they are small dogs... not to mention they are so cute... they are very very smart and from my experience are easy to train...

and now knowing that dogs under 2lb can easyly break thier bones make that a 2.5lb - 3lb that i want.

Um ok. I was just saying to me your original post sounded like you wanted to get the first yorkie you see. I had no idea your sister had a yorkie. A lot of people will go out and get a yorkie bc they are so "cute" and they dont research the breed and once they get them they realize that they are too much for them. I have seen a lot of post on here with that problem. And yes you did say "Im trying to get pure, 2.5 - 3lb female yorkie terrier (smaller if posible)" so I assume you wanted a "smaller yorkie" honestly 2.5 is still really small.. even 3 lbs with that size comes health issues... are you able to handle that?. Sounds to me like you just want the "teacup" yorkie to buy your gf. It also sounds like you have done no research on this as well. Just bc someone else has a yorkie doesnt mean it will be the breed for you As far as the "training" they are not EASY. They are very hard to train esp "potty train" It takes a lot of time and effort.


My advice to you is to go do some more homework bc you havent done enough.

Gero I think you are honestly trying to find a small yorkie for a good price, just your orginal post came acrossed different. It is very difficult to see the words "good" breeder and "cheap" breeder in the same sentence. As someone posted, you do get what you pay for, and 2.5 to 3pounds is very tiny for a yorkie as the breed standard set forth by the AKC calls for a dog 3-7 pounds. As also stated, please research and research these puppies as they do come with lots of care. I am not saying they are all unhealthy, I am saying that the purchase cost can be nothing compared to what is will cost to care for a sick puppy just once at the vet. They do tend to have more health issues, vaccines must be given over the course of a few days rather than one shot at a time, must eat every 4 hours or so or can/will experience low blood sugar which can be fatal. They require 24 hour round the clock care for the first 3-6 months of life. I know this as I do on occasion have these tiny babies and I do my homework before ever placing one in a home. That is why you must do your homework. Plus alot of not so respectable breeders will sell you a puppy and say that the pup will stay under 3 pounds, and guess what? THEY DONT!! No breeder can guarantee it. I have had many people come to me with a 7 or 8 pound Yorkie and say they were told it would stay under 4 pounds. But by the time they are full grown, your girlfriend is in love with the puppy and it stays with you but you paid the higher price.
That is why I say do the research. A pup that should stay under 4 pounds full grown should stay with the breeder until they are over 12 weeks, and at that time should not weigh more than 2 pounds...so at 8 weeks you are looking at a 14-16 ounce puppy!! They belong with the mother and breeder at this time.
Im not trying to preach, just educate....hence please do your research..read about liver shunts, legges perthes, knee issues, and digestive issues...because these are more common in the tiny babies..and are very expensive to treat.

Well to me the training was easy i lived with my sister for the first two years that the Yorkie whas with her and i had fun trianing this pup... i love the way that you are passionate about yorkies but i would like you to reread your two posts... it sounds like you are treating me like an irrisponsible child which im not im 26 years old and my gf is going to be 25 on nov 4th im not a 19 year old kid that does not know what he is getting in to... again i love the info that you are giving me and if i joined this forum was exactly to do research ask questions and get answers and suggestions but the way you are coming at it is to strong, i know what i want, i know what she wants... and i need help in finding a good breeder so i can get a very healthy pup which is my main consern a good and healthy pup.

I understand, I know what I said. I don't think I am coming off too strong at all. I think by you coming off in your op saying you want " a yorkie smaller than 2.5 lbs" is more irresponsible than what I said by far. I'm sorry I cant help they way I feel, to me in your op sounds like you need to do more research, thats all I was getting at. You want a yorkie female that is smaller than 2.5 lbs for $1,000 , even 3lbs is pushing it for $1,000 and you want a good breeder... well thats not going to happen. Maybe you should look at the breeders on YT as I already said.

If you see at my original post i did stated that maybe im asking for too much for Just 1G. Now that your saying that it is imposible to get a 3lb femail for a 1g coming from a good breeder then i do have to wait that was my question my original question and 4 post later from you im just getting the answer that i needed

Did it never ocur to you that if i in deed wanted the first thing out their no matter what, that #1 i would not be here asking questions, and #2 i would have just go a head and gone to puppypetite where they sell females yorkies that at an adult stage they wight 2.5 - 3lb just for 700 bux.

If i cant get the money for Nov 4th then ill take your advice learn more and save more so i can get her the pup for x-mas... no matter what i do thank you the world is full of misleading information and in the internet there is even more. thank god for this site and people like you.

Another question are they any real caring breeders in the tristate area that anyone can point me out to??

I think when you are buying a puppy you need to research and find out about the breeder, yes that website has yorkies for 700$ and she says they are 2.5-3lbs which I think is highly unlikely for that price. Thats the kind of breeder that says that and the yorkie turns out to be 6 lbs or turns out to be unhealthy. And how do you know if they are healthy? How do you know she is a good breeder and takes care of her yorkies? I would never buy a dog from over the internet without going to see the house they are in and meeting the breeder.

I know that sounds to good to be true that is why i was researching the site, seeking info on the breeder and thats when i saw some very distastful info of the type of breeding and care that goes on there, posted on this site and that is when i dicided to join... and as stated in my first im not going there anymore and that is why im here seeking help on finding a good breader in my area (tri-state)

When you find a breeder search the YT threads, or ask straight out! We are here to help! As opinionated as we are... our intentions are good! :)

You will find a huge amount on information, and even after you find your perfect pup, there is lots of knowledge here to be shared.

I would recommend checking out ytca.org which is the national breed club for yorkies. They have a link with breeder referrals and most of them are very reputable. There's a lot of information on their website that is very helpful. As far as price goes, it is very true that you get what you pay for and it also depends on where you live. But I will tell you that I bought my dog from a VERY reputable breeder who has been breeding and showing Yorkies for over 30 years and I paid less than what most people advertise their yorkies for on the major internet sites. A lot of internet sites jack up the prices because most people who buy from them haven't done very much research before they purchase so they don't know any better.

the website you posted is scary. the dogs eyes are freaky and do not look real. i would NOT purchase a dog from them.

getting a puppy for someone's birthday as a surprise isn't a good idea. its like getting the kids a puppy for christmas. does your GF know you are getting her a puppy? if not i'd talk to her about it first. A puppy is a huge commitment. yorkies can live for 15+ years. If your serious about getting a yorkie puppy, please visit Yorkshire Terrier Club of America and check out the breeder referral list. call or email those breeders and speak with them about getting a puppy. I'm sure you'll be able to find one for around $1000 but then again you might not. In this area, yorkies are pricey. I'll tell you that i paid more then $1000 on my yorkie and that was almost 4 years ago.

also check out the breeder sections of YT and you might be able to find a breeder here in your area that has puppies or will have puppies soon. you really want to do your research on breeders because yorkies can have some major health problems that you do not want to encounter. check out this thread before you start your search http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/fea...ead-first.html and read as much as you can on the yorkie breed.

I just wanted to add one thing. My Sadie is 4 - 4 1/2 pounds and she is very small. Everyone that see's her comments on how tiny she is. No one would ever consider her a large Yorkie. You might want to consider a little larger puppy from a reputable breeder. Good breeders have a much better handle on the size a pup is going to grow to. Even a 5 or 6 pound adult dog is very, very little.

As I was reading the posts, I was also thinking that a Yorkie that fits the breed standard is still a very, very small dog! I understand the desire to have a dog on the small side, as both of mine have been tiny. However, I would really be cautious.

In addition, I should say that my first Yorkie puppy was rescued from an owner who had been given him as a well-intentioned gift. The owner had a full-time job where she couldn't even come home for lunch, and she left the little guy tied up outside all day long. (Hello, predators? Heat/cold?) I'm sure you have thought this commitment through, as you are asking really good questions, but have you really really talked this over with her?

There is so much to consider.....I know you want the puppy to be a surprise, but if it were me I would like to pick out the specific one that I like. Yorkies come in so many coat types, color patterns, personalities, etc.

Hi German and Welcome to you and your Girlfriend to Yorkie Talk....:wavey::welcome4::yorkietal You have come to the right place to find a breeder for your Girlfriends Birthday/Christmas gift. It sounds like you've done alot of research and since your Sister has one that you fell in love with, You're off to the right start. Look up Puppies for sale on here or in the Tri-State area. I'm from Pa. and looked for almost 1 year. Through word of mouth @ a yard sale I found my Baron's Breeder 5 mins. from my house. She had 2 small pups and 3 bigger pups. I had a 15 month old Grandson when I got him and wanted a larger pup that would'nt get hurt as easily. Baron weighs 7 lbs. and will be 2 on Nov.30th. Christopher is 2 1/2 now and is very gentle with him and my other 2 dogs, a 12 lb. Papillion and a 9 lb. Yorkie. Tell your GF Happy Birthday on the 4th of Nov. :Birthday3:bigbdaypa My BD is Nov. 10th. I hope you find a female pup soon...Please post pics when you do....:)

Anyway, good luck, and i'll add my 2 cents too: definitely dont buy from anyone who advertises a "teacup" or "tiny teacup" or a "micro" or any other silly gimmick. Those terms are a red flag and probably means they are tryin to make money only. A yorkie is a yorkie and they are all so much fun. Good luck, you will love whatever puppy you get!

I know I am prejudiced but we have the most beautiful, adorable, loving Yorkie you can imagine...LOL (Seriously, we do!)

If you get a chance, check out her albums. She is just a tad under 7 pounds but to us, she is so very tiny!

The point I'm trying to make is that when I first started looking/posting, I wanted a tiny Yorkie. I had no idea that ours would seem so very tiny at nearly 7 pounds!

I started by looking at professional lists of Yorkie breeders, AKC, etc. While there are many things to consider when finding a good breeder, I felt that one in good standing with a nationally recognized organization would be a good place for me to start. I knew that if the breeder could not satisfy the guidelines for certification, I wasn't interested. There are other organizations with guidelines for breeders and the breed, too.

With the smaller package comes more health problems, more concerns about falls from short distances, more concerns about the dog being stepped on.... you are doing the right thing by educating yourself before going out and purchasing a yorkie.

How big is your sisters Yorkie?

It really difficult for breeders to accurately determine the adult size of pups. Please don't let weight be your determining factor. One of mine is 5lbs and I still think that's tiny!
