Seriously? Ok so just about every time we go out somebody asks us if Callie is a boy or girl, Callie has on a pink collar with a pink heart tag on it, a pink harness, and a pink leash I cant help but think seriously? I always say girl and just kinda laugh to myself as I walk away. Then there was the time Callie had a pink dress on and had the other stuff on as well and someone asked if she was a boy or girl and I wanted to look at them with a straight face and say definitely a boy. Oh my it just drives me crazy sometimes like people dont pay attention to things. Anyone else have things of the obvious people ask you about your baby that drive you crazy? |
Really???????????? |
My biggest bug is when someone walks up and without asking and trys to touch any of my dogs. I have some that it is not a concern at all and I am happy to share. I have a couple that on a bad day will make you life very uncomfortable. Ask to touch just ask. I may say no but I may say yes please. The other one is- is that a lad oddle...yeah moron I am at a dog show showing a mutt, no go find a brain. JL |

The other day someone asked me, while we were out for a walk, if Squirt & Gus were sisters. I told them one was 13 & the other 2, that they were both males. |
o my gosh! Lol the same thing happens to me with Bailey all the time! Bailey will be wearing a pink dress with a pink bow and people will say awww HES so cute! And im just like HELLO do you see that shes wearing a dress??? SHES A GIRL! |

One thing that make me think "are you kidding me"? Is when someone walks up and tries to takes Shay out of my arms...literally starts to pick him right up out of my arms!!! I know he is as cute as a button....but would you hand your child over to a complete stranger???? |
Don't feel bad when my daughter was born she had a pink stroller, pink blanket, and earrings and people used to ask the same question. Why??? I did the same thing and say no a boy and walk away.;) |
Misty has the same problem, we were in Wal-Mart and I get asked if my dog is a girl. Drives me crazy. As to them touching her, when she's wearing her Service Dog vest, no one should touch her. Some of the little kids don't know that they shouldn't but they ususally ask. What gets me is the adults coming up and petting her. Excuse me, she has her Service Dog vest on and is not there for you to just go and pet her. Then they have the nerve to complain when she starts growling and showing her teeth. I just don't understand. |
Try this one. I am walking my 3 and someone says oh how cute triplets. 2 are boys with full tails and one weighs 8lbs and the other 11 lbs My little girl is 5 lbs dark in color and has a docked tail. So when did they become triplets. I have had people say that my boys are really cute girls when I am holding them and you can clearly see their winkies. Some people just aren't very observant. |

:eek:If that lady had done that to my Motley she would b in a world of hurt. He is aggressive towards strangers(which is why I hold him very tight and do not take him into large crowds. When strangers do walk up to him I always give them a very understandable warning of Please be careful he bites. Even after that people just laugh and reach for him anyway saying he's so little and cute he won't bite me:confused: That's why I always teach my kids to ask the owner before even approaching a strange dog. There is no way of knowing just by looking if an animal is aggressive. Just because Motley is small I think he would definately teach someone a lesson if they approached him and started hugging and kissing him/ |
but what if you were a gay man who wanted to dress up your man in a pink! pink is the new black! or better yet! a metrosexual who was in with the times! fashion! hello fashion! *snap* Seriously. I don't know. You'd have be a gay man or a metrosexual to pull it off. A straight woman dressing her men in pink? I don't see it. |
My DIL and niece-in-law were just complaining about people calling their boys little girls this past week when they were here. They are pretty boys (1 and 2 years old) but I would not think anyone would mistake them for girls. I think some people have pre-conceived ideas -- maybe because they have one or the other themselves. I know I had a hard time gettiung used to calling Ben a boy as I had always had female dogs before him. Now that I have both Ben and Rocky, poor Candy gets called one of the boys too. I am much worse with names. When all 3 of my sons are here, I never get their names right first go around. They think this is just part of their crazy mother. ;) So, what I am beating around the bush about is -- don't take it personal! You know you have an adorable girl (or boy -- depending on who is reading this). Enjoy them -- that goes for pets or human kids! Anyone calling them the wrong sex is probably hitting themself upside the head and muttering "doh!" when they think of what they did. Everyone calls my Ben a girl because I keep his hair floor length and he is "pretty." I just laugh and say "I know he is pretty enough to be a girl, but he is all boy and ornery as can be!" When I still had Sadie, everyone assumed she was the male as she had shorter hair and was larger than Ben. I guess it is just a natural assumption because most people thought that. Again, I did not get offended, even when she had something pink on. I just would explain that she was the girl, just a big girl -- like me :) |
When I walk Twinkle and Wicket people generally assume they are both girls. and tell me how pretty the are :) If I say they are a boy and girl I normally get the whole 'do you/are you going to breed them' comments so now I just say 'thankyou' and smile, then tell Wicket how manly he is once I'm out of earshot! When we had Kaddie (RIP) people always said 'him' or 'what a gorgeous boy' and most of the time I didn't worry about correcting them. As long as people are complimenting my babies then I'm happy :) xxx |
Most people don't ask and assume topknot=girl. Sometimes I don't bother correcting as I'll probably never see them again my whole life. One lady was convinced that since genghis was squatting to go pp he couldn't be a boy. This just made me roll my eyes. |
When I tell people Sushis a boy, they still refer to him a she.......she's so cute, oh look at her......... Apparently little dog = girl |
It's okay. I have come to the conclusion that yorkies are like lady bugs. Everyone thinks that lady bugs are girls just like yorkies!! Every time I bring Teddy out I get asked "Oh what's her name?" or "How old is she?" I just say well HE is....and go on to answer them. Haha! |
the breeder that I got Tucker from keeps her boy yorkie in a pink collar so really you never can tell... |
When he was a pup Alfie was always mistaken for a girl as he was so pretty, even his breeder said he was pretty for a boy and he's been breeding for over 40years. He's still pretty and still gets mistaken for a girl even though his harnesses and leads are black. When people find out I have a male and female people ask if I'm going back into breeding again, most who know me have been disappionted as my previous girls went along way to changing peoples attitude towards our precious darlings. |
Up until we got Gracie I never had a problem with people asking Adie and Skeeter's sexes. Adie has long hair and a top knot while we keep Skeeter in a puppy cute. Next to each other anyone could guess which was which. But since Gracie came to live with us and since her hair is still real short people think she is a boy. We have puppia harnesses for them and hers is pink and white plaid but they still ask. People also ask me if they are related but it is fun answering that one. Adie and Skeeter are 1/2 sister and brother and Gracie is their mother. Before we got Gracie someone asked me why Skeeter and Adie looked so different if they were brother and sister. The answer "they have different fathers" seemed to clear it up for him. But I guess some people think that all yorkies ought to look alike! |
This always happens to me. Sophie is a total girly girl and still people always ask if she is a boy and what is his name. I find it strange that some many people make this mistake. Sophie is my first girl, I have always had boy yorkies and I never dressed them in bows or pink. You would think people would know better. |
what really is going on here , with strangers and they see our Yorkies, is they just ARE NOT thinking before opening up their mouths. We as yorkie owners have to remember that it is quite funny , when those people assume , and are wrong, even when our gorgeous yorkies are wearing pink or blue . Too me it is funny, I could not help but laugh at their dumbness. It is not our fault , that people can be morons . :p |
When my son was little, ppl would always say "She is so pretty" or "isn't SHE the cutest" and he was dressed in Blue with Baseballs on his clothes or firetrucks. Some ppl are clueless! I would be frustrated too! |

Most people assume Jamie is a girl despite his very manly wardrobe. Probably because he has a longer puppy cut and a short topknot/ponytail. I just correct them politely and go about my business. I know Jamie is mommy's sweet boy and that's all that matters. |

Ha, last friday I went to the vet and a woman that came in with her dog kept calling Jimi a girl. She said, "What's HER name?" and "SHE's so cute." I corrected her and even told her it was a boy and said HIS name is Jimi, but as she left the woman even said, "SHE looks so healthy. I can tell you take such good care of HER.".. but I have to agree: Quote:

people always assume Sadie is a boy. I tell them, "No, HER name is Sadie and she is a natural blonde unlike her mother!" |
People are so funny! That happens all the time even though Sophie is in the cutest dress and matching bow. Pink harness and tag showing her name and number. Some even read her name, Say Sophie, how adorable, and then ask if she's a boy or a girl! I usually don't answer, and after a second or two, they realize that she must be a girl! Just like Jeff Foxworthy, sometimes, I want to say, "HERE'S YOUR SIGN!" LOL! |
