I'm new! I have had my Kona for just over a month. She is 7 years old and I got her from a family that could no longer keep her. She has this weird licking thing though - just keeps sticking her tongue in and out. She does this for quite a while at a time. I don't know if this is normal or not, but it is freaking me out a little bit. Other than that she is a great dog. |

Hello And Welcome to YT!!! |
Hello and welcome to YT!! Congratulations on your new baby! I am not sure about the licking thing. Maybe someone will know about it though. |
Motley did that when he had a loose baby tooth. He kept sticking his tounge in and out so I lookd in his mouth and there was a tooth just hanging there. |
My Shih Tzu -Sunny- does that as well, he looks like he's trying to get rid of something in his mouth and can't but there's nothing there, mind you he is a licker and he'll lick you to death if allowed. However it does'nt bother me when he does it, I think he's just funny when he does that. :D |
:wavey: Hi! :welcome4: |
Welcome and congrats on your new baby. My Cali does that and licks the carpet, bedspread and other things. She has allergies but they are under control with medicine so I don't think it is related. I think it is just her quirkiness. |
Welcome! Welcome to YT! Congrats on your new baby! Warning though, they are so easily spoiled! :luvu: |
Thank you all for the welcome! This is our first dog and we are absolutely loving her. My husband was a little bit hesitant about getting her, but he spoils her more than I do. |
Ted licks thin air too. I asked the vet about it and he said it's nothing to worry about (but it does make me anxious to watch it.) Just make sure he has no hair or fiber stuck between his teeth and wash his little beard...sometimes that helps if somethings stuck in there. |
