What do you think?? So Coco was spayed a month ago and she has a very tiny little area with some scar tissue. I know that it's normal to have some scar tissue but Coco's is REALLY hard and a bit bumpy. I called the clinic and she said as long as it's not red and oozing it should be ok. It's probably just her body protecting itself. Any experiences with anyone else with this type of thing? Should I be worried? It doesn't hurt her when I touch or gently push it. |
Bella had the same issue when she was spayed, I was really concern that she'd have this permanent huge scar. But as time went by, it slowly faded. Now, unless you look REALLY REALLY hard, you would never know that she was spayed. I think its still in the healing process and her little belly will smooth out eventually. |
Do you know if she has the dissolvable stitches inside? I heard the dissolvable stiches can take months to dissolve and can be felt from the outside. I wonder if that's what you're feeling? Give Coco a kiss from me :luvu: |
When I got Lacy spayed the vet gave her internal sutures that dissolved on their own. A couple of weeks later I found out she had a hernia. The vet that I took her to didn't close her up right and the sutures started to come apart. That's a story in itself. Anyway, I took her to another vet who had to open her up in the same spot to remove the hernia. This vet ended up giving Lacy sutures on the inside because the other vet had screwed up. She used thicker sutures than she normally would have because she had opened up the previous time. These stitches are still inside her. The vet didn't use the sutures that dissolve. She also had to stitch her up on the outside. She had those removed after 2 wks. I took her to the vet a couple of weeks ago for her rabies shot and the vet asked me if I wanted to have the stitches removed that were still inside her. I asked her if I didn't have them removed would it cause any problems, she said no. So I decided not to have them removed. I don't want to put Lacy through pain that's not necessary. Anyway, Lacy is bumpy where her scar is too. For her it's normal cuz the stitches are still in there. I don't know if it is for your baby though. Did your vet use internal or external sutures? |
I think that over time, the scar tissue will fade. |
Thats how Jewels scar is too. I was a little concerned untill you said coco's is the same way. |
They used internal dissolvable stitches. That's what the lady said but I just wanted to make sure. It isn't red or bleeding or looks like it's coming apart. It's a tiny tiny tiny little mark but it's really hard. Jennette has seen it..It's totally small but I would think it would go away after a month. So the consensus is that it's fine and it will eventually go away? I don't care if it doesn't go away, as long as it doesn't cause any discomfort or anything to her. |
Well...Bella had external stiches, I dont know if CoCo will have the same outcome since hers is internal. I'm sure it'll smooth out though... |
Someone sais, I think it was yokeirini that her vet uses a new laprospic spay through the bellybutton. That sounds so much better thsn the traditional way. Has anyone had experience with this procedure? |
That sounds pretty interesting. i've heard about it but after Coco getting spayed. It is probably pretty expensive and way past my budget. But it sounds interesting. Up until a month ago I didn't even know they had belly buttons. It's so cute. I kiss Coco's everyday..hehe |
I imagine that just like us, the scars and hard tissue will fade after a while. I had a fall on the ice last year and had a HUGE knot on my forehead that looked like a goose egg. My doctor told me that eventually my body would "absorb" it, and sure enough it did. For a couple of months, though, I had this ugly knot. Thank goodness for bangs! |
We had Addi spayed in August and just recently discovered a small hard bump on her incision site. She has an appointment at our vets tomorrow night to check it out. They did say it was probably just scar tissue but they wanted to check her to be sure. I will let you know what they say. |
I would love it if you could let me know what their diagnosis is. |
Biddy had the exact same thing. That's how I found YT - I was freaking out because I didn't know what was going on with her! It seemed like it was there forever - but it went away eventually. I wouldn't worry about it. If it changes or looks worse, I would contact your vet - but I think what you are describing is quite normal. Good luck! |
Thanks Jessica. and CONGRATULATIONS on getting engaged. I'm sooooo happy for you. If you need ANY wedding planning help, let me know, like deciding on designs or colors. I love doing that stuff. |
