What's with all the seizures lately?? Has anyone else noticed an alarming amount of threads or posts stating their Yorkie is having seizures lately? This is scarey...what on earth is going on? I read on several forums and it isn't just Yorkies...it's other pure breeds and mixed breeds too. Now, I know not all of these dogs and puppies can have liver shunts or epilepsy so there has to be another connection. Are there common lines in these Yorkies? Are there common ingredients in the food they all eat? Do they all have allergies or are they all hypoglicemic? Have they all had a reaction to a recent vaccination? There has to be something causing all of these seizures. This just worries me...and the ideopathic epilepsy diagnosis just doesn't work for me...that only means they don't know what is causing them so they say it's epilepsy. Is anyone else as concerned about this as I am? |

Definitely disturbing because as an owner of a yorkie who had seizures it is EXTREMELY scary! It was one of the most scariest times in my life. I wonder what's going on  |
Our little toy poodle, Prissy, who is 7 yrs old now, has been having seizures for 4 years now. We had her on medicine for awhile, however her quality of life was horrible. She just lay around the house, she didn't enjoy anything, so we took her off the medicine. I do not work anymore, so I can watch her closely and when she has one I am able to stay right with her. She doesn't have them as often as she used to. Our vet told us that this breed is prone to seizures. Jasmine, our 9 month old, yorkie has not experienced any seizure activity, thank the Lord. |
